Hot vs Cold Dyno Pulls - Stock ZL1
Hey all, I've started working with a buddy who owns a dyno shop in central NH. He has worked on many types of vehicles but is a real genius with Mustangs.
Anyways, I purchased a 2013 ZL1 M6 in June and will be performing some mods and tuning. I'll do my best to pull some interesting data to share here. First round of data is a quick shot comparing a dyno run hot from the street and then after sitting for 45+ minutes with fans blowing to cool it down. 29whp and 22wtq differential for a hot motor versus a cooled motor. Def need to keep temp, especially IAT2, in mind when comparing dyno pulls or before making runs at the track!

That makes me feel better about what my tuner told me the last time I was in for a re-tune. I came in hot off the street and was on the dyno for 2 hours with very minimal cool down. In the and he told me due to heat soak probably off by about 15 horsepower. Based on what you are showing me I believe it.

I saw the same thing when I dyno'd my car bone stock. Not only does it pull timing when hot, but Cat Over Temp usually kicks in and drops the commanded AFR to 10.45.
