Well, it's a 245-watt "9-speaker" system. So, I imagine it's something goofy considering they count every seperate cone in the stereo as a "speaker"... so...

Edit:

My guess:

25 watt Center channel
25 watt A-pillar tweeters (2 of them)
25 watt Door 6.5" speakers (2 of them)
35 watt Rear Deck 6x9 speakers (2 of them)
25 watt Rear Deck mid-range (second cone in the 6x9 speakers)

But, like I said, this is a complete guess. I don't that anyone has bothered to check what each channel is rated for...

It's an 8 channel Visteon amp. Visteon went belly up about 2 months ago LOL. It has an internal X-over. So that's 30.62 watts x 8 channel's. Max. Your not going to be happy till you upgrade. I took 6 channels from the amp and ran them to a AudioControl LC6i six channel line output converter. From there to a Alpine PDX-5 five channel amp. Two sets of Alpine component speakers and One subwoofer. So in the end what I have is 106 watts x 4, plus 408 watts x 1. 832 RMS watts compaired to Visteon's 122 RMS watts. Ballpark.

norty - sounds like a great system, good work. Why did you prefer to keep the factory amp in the system (as opposed to using the 4 channels out of the deck, before the amp)?

thanks

How would I wire up a Kenwood 8452 to replace the stock amp and would it work with the stock head unit?

The Kenwood is 70 watts x 4 @ 4ohms or 100 watts x 4 @ 2 ohms.

If you wanna upgrade the factory amp you might as well upgrade the speakers.

That's ok because the factory amp sucks anyways.

After finally getting my BA 12" Sub installed I think the stock system sounds GREAT!

I have my settings set to:

Treble +1
Midrange 0
Bass +5

Crank it up to 30-35 and it rocks with no distortion! The additional sub made a big difference
