Question Why do I need a trans cooler? My car already comes with one.

If I get a higher stall torque converter, do I still need a transmission cooler? If so why? My car already has a transmission cooler built into the radiator.

Yes it is best to have one, especially with a stall which builds more heat for your transmission. Heat is your transmissions worst enemy. The stock cooler is built into your radiator which is cooling not only your trans fluid but also your antifreeze which is more than likely 200 degree's. When you install a trans cooler you can run it in series with your trans cooler in the radiator, but i and most recommend you bypass the stock cooler and run a standalone aftermarket trans cooler. 2 great coolers out there are the ADM and the B & M coolers.

They both come with the brackets to mount them in front of the a/c condenser, right behind the grille..

Or flat suspended by the front carrier bracing as air flows freely through them there w/out decreasing the flow to the condensor and radiator.

I've been doing research and since I want to do autocross, I won't be getting the stall converter. However it probably won't hurt to still get the trans cooler. Agreed?

Have you done any installs like this? I'd like to see some pics, if you have some. I like how this sounds.

This is how I install all the ones I do. No sense in bundling all the coolers (transmission, oil, power steering, A/C condensor, radiator) together and making a giant inefficient heat ball.

The two "frame rails" on the front subframe that holds the motor.
