Question - I have a 2014 SS 1LE and it came with a clean side separator. What is the difference between what came with the car and a catch can? Thanks.

There are 2 sides to the PCV system; the clean side and the dirty side. The clean side only accounts for about 5% of the total blow by. Why GM chose to address only that 5% is beyond me. As the name suggests most of the problem lies on the dirty side where about 95% of blow by passes through. Many choose to only address the dirty side with a catch can but running something on both the clean and dirty side is the optimal solution.

Thank you for your quick response and good advice and explanation of the catch can.

Yes, we do but we do not accept the order over our website. You can either call it in or we can email a PayPal invoice to you.

2011Black2SS took his ZL1 on a weekend road trip to Florida last weekend. Can was empty when he left and this is what he collected over 2015 highway miles.

My 2010 ss has higher miles and no catch can installed. Looking at adding one but I'm afraid there's already tons of build up. Is there anything to clean out the old build up before adding a catch can?

You can take it to the dealership service department and pay them a couple hundred dollars for an upper induction cleaning.

Would sea foam and oil change do the trick? Or is the upper induction cleaning from the dealer still the best option? I just hate taking my car to the dealership, never trust them to do the work, or do it correctly.

My dealership uses BG chemicals for the upper induction cleaning. BG is supposedly "better" than SeaFoam.

I paid $185 for my upper induction cleaning at the dealer. It was well worth the cost.

I made sure the master tech did it though. Don't let the oil chanGe crew do this!!!

I ended up manually cleaning my valves and intake tract after the upper induction cleaning and catch can install because the LFX has a direct injection engine (meaning the detergents in the fuel never get a chance to clean the valves). With the chemical and manual cleaning my intake is clean and the catch can keeps it that way.

Chase:

I have the Vararam Ram Air installed on my 2011 2SS. I now have the 'open' area where the stock intake was. It appears this unit installs on the radiator bolt -- is there an alternate place this will fit? I'd rather not 'add' this where the radiator bolt ;o)

BTW, the VMax is awesome!

No, we do not have other bracket options. We do include a replacement bolt that is stronger, slightly longer, and has more threads than the stock one. We have never had an issue with it.
