I have the stock resonator and it sounds great. If you have that and the stock mufflers, should still sound good, just not all that loud. Probably get a decent tone/volume.

Damn!! I never would have thought that was a stock cat back. Must have allot of work done in other places. Cam, intake, headers, etc.

The 95dB limit sounds impossible to reach if thatīs the OEM cat back. Might need tiny mufflers instead of the cats.

1 7/8" LTH (cheepo, Speed Engineering) and no cats + stock exhaust. Sounds great! Quite when you're putting around, SCREAMS at WOT! LIKE!

I did headers with highflow cats 1st.
Pretty loud when throttle is opened up.
Then switched to Corsa Cataback , not much difference in Volume but changed the tone.
Still too loud for my taste.
Added Magnaflow Resonated X pipe in place of Corsa X.
Brought the Tone down , but also the Volume which I didn't expect.

Stock cat back, junk or good enough?

I've got an L99 with LS3 conversion, LS9 cam, Maggie TVS2300, Kooks LT's, LS3 stock cat back and no cats. Love it. Just like Fastdiesel says. Just above stock when cruising but gets awesome on WOT. I want to say I recorded dB's on the dyno and it was 113. And that was a closed shop.

See how this link works. Best I could find right off the bat:

Here's a decibel reading on a ZL1, FSP blower cam, headers and I think the stock cat back. Not sure about the cats in there or not. You can see max dB is110 and this was a dyno with the garage door open.

Here's mine.

TSP headers, no cats, stock exhaust. Zero drone, and it's nice and quiet daily driving until you get past 3500 RPMs.

Stock mufflers on most cars these days flow fine. I'm making over 1200rwhp on stock catback on a vette, and friend made almost 1500rwhp on stock catback. People do them for sound/looks, very rarely for power. I know several camaros well into 800rwhp range with stock catbacks.
