Red & Orange Brake Lights Mystery!?!
Hi Everybody!!!
I was wondering if anybody knows why these two Camaro cars have a red and an orange brake light on each side of the rear of the car, when the standard models have two red brake lights on each side? I was thinking perhaps the U.S. versions have two red brake lights on each side and the Canadian and Australian have one orange and one red brake light on each side? Or maybe the orange brake light is aftermarket? Does anybody know? The first two photo have red and orange brake-lights and the third image shows the standard 4 red brake light (for frame-of-reference). BTW: Do you think the red and orange combo looks better than all red? Thanks, Jake

Pretty sure they are Euro spec, not an early sample. There are several threads discussing this from yesteryear.

Yup, when I saw the photos of the pre production models with these I thought they looked terrible...all red is much much better.

well if you look at the PLATES, you will notice, they are AUSTRALIAN. OUR cars have red, because of DOT rules.......they have different standards....all aussie cars have one red, one amber.

Not to mention the big decal in the back window that says "left hand drive" to warn Aussie drivers that it is an American left drive car, not Australian.

Like they said that's for the foreign markets which have different requirements. Other cars have shown up with different and equally weird set-ups.

They were testing Camaro on European roads. In europe turn signals are yellow/orange also it's necessary to have rear fog lamp, front yellow/orange turn signal and asymmetric headlamps. Also if you have Xenon/HID head lamps they should be equipped with automatic up/down positioning and sprinkler for each headlamp. Some demands...
If your car doesn't match this demands police can take from you your registration papers. But I see many cars brought from US here in Poland and lights are just like factory made them. My dad got a Ford F-450 and it has red turn signals. I think when I get my Camaro to Poland I won't do any light modes maybe put just yellow bulbs in rear lights for turn signal. |
