I have TSP 304 stainless LT headers that I got ceramic coated matte black. For everyone who says "you will need a tune," this is just outright untrue. You will BENEFIT from a tune, but you don't need to blow your warranty with a tune. If you use the spark plug defouler trick on the rear sensors, you won't throw codes. You're fine not getting a tune.

I would definitely go with a set of good proven long tubes. We took BBK's off this cammed 2010 Camaro and went with KOOKS 1 7/8's headers. No other changes.

We have another Camaro in the shop that is down some power with a set of Chinese headers. I told him that if he didn't pcik up 15 switching to a known good brand than we would eat the labor.

Long tubes are without a doubt the way to go. Shorties should only be an option if you live in California.

Feel free to call, PM or email us anytime with questions.

The coating or not debate has been talked about numerous times. Bottom line, if you're doing it for any other reason than looks or quicker cool down, you're wasting your money. They don't keep under hood temps much if any cooler and you won't gain HP or throttle response, over uncoated LT's.

Not to get in this rumble but shorties make some nice torque and you dont have to modify anything. But unless you buy them real cheap they are not worth the 500 or 600 they go for

Shorties only if you have to (California).

I made the mistake of putting shorties on my LT1 z28 and it consistantly dynoed 20 rwhp lower than all my buddies LT1s with long tubes (on the same dyno).
I was just learning the mod game back then.

Wasting your money with shorties. I've heard people actually lost HP by putting on shorties but they will change your sound. American Racing claims you'll pick up around 10HP with theirs but for the price they want it's a ripoff. I trust their numbers though because they are a reputable company. If you are looking to increase sound and add some good HP I'd go with high flow cats first. I hear people that dynoed picked up about 20-25HP with high flows. I put a set of Solo's on mine and couldn't be happier. I haven't dynoed my car but I can feel the difference. I'm probably going to get rid of the high flows and go with long tubes eventually but they require a tune to get the full benefit.

This will give you real world testing on the JBA 1 3/4" shorty headers and mid-pipes.

Padre is the ONLY person to show gains and most of his stuff was done in conjunction with other mods at the same time.

I bought some used DT shorties for $200 and put them on with SOLO hfc... Undoubtedly not as big of a gain as long tubes, but I don't want to tune until my power train warranty is up

I'm really happy with them for what I paid but IMO not worth what they cost new from any company

This is what usually happens. They put on shorty's and HFC's, then say the shorty's gained them HP when in fact 99% of those gains were from the HFC's.

Not singling you out bomber, just using your post as an example.
