But I will say I've taken some big hits in the Z and not a chip.

Joe's windshield cracked a while back. They wanted to replace it with an aftermarket windshield. He had to yell and yell at them that it was a HUD windshield on a 60k car and they weren't putting anything aftermarket on it. He finally found someone who said they'd do it for like $40 more than what he was going to get paid through insurance.

All I asked for was OEM. Wonder what the differences are in price.

I just called the glass company I use and they offer plain OEM windshield for 359.70. Then HUD + remote start version for 639.96 Both prices includes 8.25% sales tax.

Not sure what remote start has to do with anything but HUD and remote start are the same windshield.

I believe the "Remote Start" windshield has an attachment for the black box to clip on to.

I've had to replace my windshield twice already

They asked me if I had remote start. I should have said yes.

They may be the same price, but they're not the same windshield. Mine will not work with HUD as well as a HUD windshield does. (if that makes sense)

Yup... remote start/hud are one in the same. But like I predicted the price is a lot higher.

If it's all on insurance I'd damn sure demand OEM. But if it's out of pocket and a 2010 manual then it doesn't have HUD or remote start right?

Hey Doug! Just saw all the chatter going on about your windshield. Mine just got a rock chip this past Monday coming in to work! I was coming up behind one of those gravel hauling trucks. I usually move over to avoid the inevitable, but this time I wasn't quick enough and BAM!!! The chip is about the size of a quarter, so I was trying to decide whether to replace it or not. Looks like I should....

If its not larger than the size of a dollar bill, they most likely will not replace and will want to repair it. Mine is about 8" and goes all the way to the edge of the windshield

If it cracks and the crack spreads, it means a windshield replacement. If it's just a nick with no cracking, they can fill that in with their special epoxy stuff...

^^^ This... I've had 4 or 5 done and the bigger they get from dime to quarter the more expensive it is. I think I've been paying around 30 bucks here.
