Aggressive Cam Shaft=Damage?
I love the sound of the night fury cam and the rough idle by jannetty. I got quotes by both and seemed kind of high, two questions here:
having a cam install costs 5000$??? seems like a lot just for a cam shaft install. Also, what kind of rollers does these cams have? flat tappet? what is the life of these aggressive cams on a L99?? Has anyone experienced problems at all. Would I need to have heads installed as well because of clearance issues? seems smarter to just go with forced induction when it comes to HP numbers. BUT I WANT THAT SOUND... dammit. any help greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

I was quoted around $2500 to $3000 for the full kit. As long as you have the supporting mods it should be around ^^^^^^^^

You have two options, I don't know about the other one. I'm not impressed....
1) Mike @ newera in your state who can set you up with an Awesome VVT cam and tune that has all you'll need. From the right cam and parts to GREAT TUNING. 2) lethal can ship you their cam and parts for the Ls3 conversion AND mike @new era can tune it right.

Cams aren't cheap especially if your an L99 going to LS3 conversion. I believe it is a bit cheaper if you stay VVT and if thats the case get with Rhino79 from GPI. Our cars use roller lifters and not flat tappets. Right now I am piecing my LS3 conversion and cam parts together and once I have it installed I will probably have spent about $4500. Like you said, a cammed engine sounds so much better.

I might do that, I wonder how long it takes to install a cam and ls3 conversion kit
I already have headers and a CAI, making 368rwhp, can I expect to hit 400???

Staying vvt will be cheaper, and its hard to argue with the success of vvt grinds in auto cars.

I've gone with tune time in NJ and they're great, but I've recently moved and now they are like an 8 hour drive, so I'm leaning towards Jannetty, although they quoted me at a price that was astronomical for just a rough idle cam install

Our smallest vvt cam will be a 420 minimum hp cam, probably closer to 430 on most dynos. They go up from there, but the larger ones require the right tq converter. If you don't want a different converter, stick with the SS1.

Mine all together was a little under $3000. Mods and hp are in my signature.

Do your homework but pay attention to what some of the sharpest guys on this forum have said right in your own thread here. Don't let their knowledge go to waste.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same. Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different. I can't wait for my next Track fix. If your able to I'd suggest just doing the install yourself then having someone tune it for you.
