50 State Legal Exhaust
I am looking for some input on a 50 state legal exhaust. I was looking @ getting ARH shorties and maybe changing the cats. Who has hi flow cats that are 50 state legal? Would this be a bolt on deal or will I have to bring this to a muffler shop? BTW I have already a Flowmaster axle back just for better sound. Thanks for any help. Craig

Just go high flow cats, it will remain legal as long as you don't move the location of the cats. BUT stay away from shorty headers they are pointless. Are you looking for more hp? Then long tubes and a tune is the ONLY way to go. EPA be damned around here lol.

There is no high flow cats that are 50 state legal. At least not legal in California that is.

New Jersey is almost as bad as CA. I see that ARH has a 50 state legal shorty. I know not as good as a LT, but it's better that stock. I need to keep this legal

Keep your manifolds bud, shorties are pointless. I know a few guys on here from Jersey that have Lt's and catless lol. It can't be as bad as the "People's Republic of California"! LOL

I would agree that all of the shorties probably make no extra power EXCEPT the ARH ones. Those are actually a equal length shorty and will make about 10RWHP. Now if 10RWHP is worth 1000 dollars to you then go for it. High flow cats would add another 10RWHP but cost you another 300-600 dollars. If you are pretty mechanicly inclined I would just get LT headers, high flow cats, and a tune. Those will make 40RWHP and cost way less than the ARH shorties and high flow cats. Just switch them out before inspection and load the stock tune. Problem solved.

Bolt on system, easily done yourself in three hours tops, and you could go back to stock if you for some reason ever wanted to. Steve from Noweeds told me the Dyno numbers are HP increase anywhere from 15-35. I recently put the Roto Fab CAI that combined with the Noweeds and my ZL1 is getting a serious boost, and NO TUNE. I PM'd several guys who do this install years ago to get some feedback on how the system has held up, and all who responded gave it a 100% Recommendation. It's not cheap, you're spending a Grand of your hard earned cash, but its a quality made product and highly recommended. Hope this helps, it's worth checking out for sure. Their homepage, the video of the girl in the Black SS, sold me right on the spot. But I did lots of research before placing my order yesterday, talked to many new/old owners and like I said I got back a 100% NO REGRETS! http://www.noweeds.net/ Also found this picture of one of the guys who didn't want the switch under the seat. May just do this myself. |

Just get LTs and remove them for inspection. I believe it's 7 years by you, so you should be fine for awhile.

NJ is easy just go to private inspection site. I have never had issues, as long as you aren't throwing or blocking cels.

Get your car registered in another state (do you own property elsewhere?) and never get an inspection sticker (so long as you never drive it in that state) and no one will pull you over
Ok don't actually |

"People's Republic of California"!
"I thought you were in Commufornia" What's with all the California haters? Just because we have great weather and far more beautiful women doesn't mean you have to live your life in envy. |
