SLP SUPERCHARGER MAP.... IS TOTAL CRAP
Yes boys and girls, I have seen the SLP Map that they send you for their supercharger..
Do not drive you car any further than to the nearest person to tune your car.. I took my car in for a single pull on the dyno just to get a base before some more mods.. and holy crap batman... this is the worst tune I have ever seen done by anyone older than 12.. even then.. the slp map will screw up your motor and will destroy it in short order.. When I got my map I specificly talked to slp and told them where I was and a few of the parameters of my area since I live at 6000 feet.. the guy at slp told me that they use this map on every one of their supercharged motors and it has never been an issue.. well OMG the amount of detonation is unbelievable and dangerous.. the PE is set to kick in at 900 rpm.. instead of 3500 to 4500 this will trash your MPG. the timing is nothing more than an awful joke.. I was lucky that I have only driven my car localy just because I haven't had any real time to take long drives yet.. and if I had run on the track I would have destroyed my motor.. the tuner (Bill's Automotive / Addiction Tuning in Highlands Ranch Colorado) would not let me out of the shop the tune was soooooo bad.. pathetic is my description,, We could only run the motor to 4k due to the massive knock issues and was putting barely 399 to the wheels.. this is a joke for a 426BHP motor.. that has a supercharge on it.. Bill removed the slp joke tune.. returned to stock (and it actually did better) and built a tune from there.. After 3 pulls, only the last two to 6k did the motor actually wake up.. Addiction Tuning got me 100 more HP to the ground.. now that is impressive in any book,, and my MPG has gone up 40%.. even better. and we are not done yet.. I am adding a smaller pulley (because I am living at 6000 feet) since I make about 4 pounds of boost right now and want closer to 6 up here and no more than 8 at sea level. (and you don't want more than 8 pounds of boost because it will break your ring lands on stock motors) going to install a range colder plugs.. NGK Iridium and going to go to a better intake,, even though the numbers say my stock air box will flow enough air it does not.. short fix is making some holes in the bottom.. SHORT VERSION OF ALL THIS IS SLP YOUR SUPERCHARGER TUNE IS A JOKE AND YOUR R&D ON THIS IS JUST SCARY BAD.. PRETTY OBVIOUS WHY YOU FAILED

New style or jackshaft TVS?
MAF/VE transition is indeed 900 RPM on the new style iirc but the PE enable was somewhere around 90 kPA? Memory fails me and I don't have the canned tune here to look at. At any rate, it's a tune they provide out of the box with a warranty if you want it. I loaded the intune, read it with HPT and went from there never looking back. I ran 93 on the base tune for about 50 miles with little or no KR at sea level. As I recall it was pretty fat also.

Mine is the New Style with SLP canned Tune. Zero Issues, All intalled by Jannetty Racing. threw it on the dyno to test the numbers and spot on. No worries what so ever. Runs great, over 2,000 miles since install.
Im running factory manifolds and airbox with the setup. Put down 502RWHP and at wide open 11.0 AFR. Was advised by SLP the tune is only for stock camaros, no headers ect, otherwise would run like you are describing. My long term goals are to throw a cam, headers, intake, small pulley, fuel upgrade ect. Then it would be custom tuned by Jannetty.

Well if you are using an aftermarket cold air intake then there was absolutely no way they could have dialed in a canned tune for your car, since canned tunes are made for bone stock vehicles only. even headers can throw the AFR one side or the other. As far as PE enabled at 900rpms, thats okay because there are other parameters that control this such as MAP PE-enable and Throttleposition PE-enable and so on. Everyone should consider the canned tunes nothing but startup files and work from there.

Didn't even bother using the SLP tune, just got their Supercharger then $70K later and Cunningham Motorpsorts did all the work. Dyno tune by a pro is the only way to go.

I plan on it but right now I've got the 3 year 36k full power train warranty from SLP if I keep it like this, it's been 3 months !!

F*** SLP and their warranty, it works it you want to keep it at their stage 1 system which is nothing, If they found out JRE tuned your car you already voided their warranty. BTW you say you put down 502 on the dyno but under your avatar you say 600 HP, so what is it? It only matters what comes from the wheels.

Ive re-tuned several SLP packages. You have to remember its a canned tune to work in everyone of their Camaros. With the SLP package, everything other than your manifold is stock. Its a safe tune like all the canned handheld tunes, but the more you change ( IE CAI) the further the tune can change.
What amazed me was they don't disable the AFM in the tune, but added a couple pounds of tranny pressure. I haven't seen what the OP described, but like every canned handheld unit tune, you can always get a little more power having the vehicle in front of you scanning in real time. Phil |

Wait if you need the warrenty. They fight it to the end. My buddy had his car built there. Dropped a valve 50 miles from picking it up from there head package. He had to sue them and even then they threw junk into his car.

the supercharger is the new style one.. and yes I do like the looks much better..
my motor is completely stock including the airbox.. which is being changed today. and I had a custom cat back exhaust installed.. all of which slp was told and they said it didn't matter.. when I saw the results of the pull on they dyno.. that is what told me that the slp map is crap,, You will never know the difference until you look very closely at the map.. this I suspect is one of the reasons that slp uses the Diablo system.. Diablo lacks a substantial number of parameters windows that the HP system has.. and these show where there are a ton of mistakes in the tune.. I know that I thought it was fine but baby it was not.. the tune and the numbers speak for themselves.. 399 to the ground using slp tune.. 495 to the ground using the tune done by Addiction Tuning.. And more to come when I fix the slp errors.. now to that as well.. slp shipped a damaged heat exchanger,, no the box was not damaged.. it was a box in a box.,. slp shipped my 6500 supercharger missing several parts.. the most obvious was the long hose for the intercooler.. slp also shipped my supercharger with all kinds of extra small parts.. the instructions are a total joke.. if you are not a mechanic (which this is one of those don't try this at home things but can be done) then you are completely screwed.. I made a list to send to slp of all the screwed up things in my kit.. and their design.. they didn't care.. also the reservoir tank is so small it is truly a joke.. even as much as they just grabbed the cheapest thing that would fit.. and work.. there are several tanks out there that would fit and increase the volume by 30 to 50 percent.. yes there is a price issue that all business must deal with but at least make it an option.. if you get an slp product, closely inspect every inch of it.. I had to do cleanup on the inside of the supercharger because a huge amount of sealer had spilled into the interior of the housing. obviously no one at slp really gave a crap.. oh yeah my forgot my favorite line.. I would not use slp products on my ex-wife's car now

All the Maggie resevoirs are small. They don't need a large one unless your running 8+psi the you could beneifit from it. Seems like maybe you had a bad tune but many other are using it and are at 500-520 RWHP, sounds like your local tuner has your ear and has told you some things and you bought them hook, line and sinker without having any real tuning knowledge you can be lead down any path they want to lead you on, not saying what he told you was BS just saying don't believe everything.
In the end if your happy with the car now that's all that matters.
