The StabiliTrak isn't working any more and is turned off, so you no longer have the benefits of it. The car will drive fine under normal conditions but if you push it too hard, to the point where StabiliTrak would normally kick in, the StabiliTrak won't kick in and you may lose control. It is something that you should get looked at in case you need the benefits of StabiliTrak in an emergency situation.

At least it ain't overheating! Sometimes 1 sensor failure can make multiple lights come on. I would take to a mechanic shop that you use. Was the TPMS light already on?

usually traction control issues, like unexpected wheelspin..should go away when you turn ignition on/off and/or after driving a few miles.

What year is it? There could be a TSB for the problem.

Funny you should ask. With 800 Miles on my new 2013 2SS... I am stuck in Missouri because that came on.

My symptoms... the car started bucking like it had a plugged fuel filter (60MPH at the time) and then that error message.

I shut down the system and then drove to a rest stop and sorted out where a dealer was.

Started car all was good... 10 minutes later a slight buck, same error message and the car shutdown the traction control, Tach died, lights all over the place. Drove the car into the dealer.

Surprisingly enough the dealer that is awaiting the part says the error codes they retrieved say Crank Angle Sensor is bad.

Long way from home, with a brand new GM Boat Anchor.

I just had the same issue, the Throttle body sensor needed to be changed. It was covered under warranty but before I got to the dealer, 3 days later, it made the car run on only 4 cylinders while the warning was on. I was able to turn the warning off by turning the car off and letting it sit for 5 minutes or so. I had to do this 3 times in the days waiting for my appt with the dealer. My CEL was also on but turned off after a few starts.

I meant that there could be a known issue with it that GM has recognized and is willing to fix. It has nothing to do with "sensors in the tires". I just went through that with my car, the CEL light would come on and would get decreased power, then it would go out. Just before I had it looked at, the "Service Stabilitrack" light came on also.
I posted the TSB in another thread if you are interested to see.

Well this what happens when cars today are 90% filled with electronic sensors. And top it off who knows who is manufacturing these parts? Way back when, parts were either made in house or sourced out to a supplier across town. Now thanks to our new "GLOBAL" economy these parts are probably filled lead and mercury and coming from China, Japan and Mexico.

Did you recently change your wheels and tires? That can cause it if you're too far from the stock size.
