Stabili-Trak Fault Warning

Went around a corner yesterday. Back end kicked out a bit. Traction control light came on then the DIC indicated the fault. All three indicators on the display came on and stayed on.

No response to controls. Scanning the car showed no codes while the Stabili-trak fault was being displayed.

Shut the car down for several hours. When restarting the fault was cleared and traction control worked as normal.

Anyone one else seen this?

Rob

Which 3 indicators? What was the message on the DIC?

From memory:

Lights - traction control off, traction control active, and small engine.

The DIC said, "Stabili-Trak" fault....

I've had a warning in my DIC come on before that said, "Service Stabilitrak" and my stabilitrak, traction control, and ABS lights all came on while the dash speaker kept dinging at me. If I tried to go more than 55mph or if I tried to hard accelerate while all the lights were showing the acceleration would be sluggish or the throttle would be jerky and weird. And this was out of the blue, not even after any kind of aggressive driving.

Then, if I turned the car off and let it sit for a few hours, everything reset and it drove like normal.

Very odd behavior, but whatever.

I should have taken a picture but I think you are right it must have indicated, "Service Stabilitrak".

Thanks,

Rob

I've got the Traction and Stabilitrak lights on before when I whipped it around a corner but shortly after the lights turned off.

I have seen it occur with our Suburban when the brake fluid was a little low. Have not had it occur with the Camaro, but I watch the brake fluid carefully.

Don't overfill your brake fluid if it is lowish. It seems to leak out of the cap if too full.

Have you changed your wheels or tires lately to other than standard?

Happens every time you dyno the camaro. It sees the rears spinning and not the fronts and thinks something is wrong.

I don't do any spirited driving with the nannies on normal. I'm sure they are complaining if you are trying to do tricks like kick the rear out and you have them set in normal mode.

Then the traction control loves to chop the throttle. I'd rather drive the car myself personally.

Would it still do that if you turned it off before the session?

I am sure we all are aware that if you push the button for 7 seconds it turns all assists off. that would solve the dyno issue.

I had this happen to me right after I got mm baby. I stalled it and quickly restarted and gunned it and my assists lit up like xmas. (due to the fact I didn't let the computer do the start up check) After talking to the dealer I came to the conclusion that if the assists are engaged and haven't reset to normal and then engage again the system freaks out and they stay on. Turning the car off for 30 min or more will clear it out.
