Camaro Stripes Question

Is it true that "real" camaros don't have the stripes running down the roof of the car? only the hood and the rear??

And also, how much is the average cost of getting the stripes on the camaro? not coming from the factory.

Thanks.

I don't quite know what you mean by "real" Camaro. I do know that all 1st, 2nd, and 5th Gen Camaro do NOT come from the factory with stripes on the roof. I can't speak on the 3rd & 4th Gen, don't know much about them. And if you're talking about getting the dealer-installed stripes, it's about a $400 option (estimate).

Welcome to Camaro5, Prospect20! The production(real) Rally Stripes are, as you said, on the hood and trunk lid only, not on the roof. The option is $395 installed at the factory (cyber gray & white only), or $470 (all colors) installed by the dealer.

You can check out prices for yourself here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8239

Happy shopping!

Yes "real" camaros only have stripes on the hood and the rear, mustangs have stripes from front to back. Just the way it is, and has always been. Don't know anything about price. look up pics online, and you will wonder why you never noticed, cause i did...

That's not 100% true... the 30th Anniversary '97 stripes are on the roof. I'm not sure about the stripes for 4th gens. Most of the time, I see them with t-tops, so of course they won't have roof stripes.

The only Camaro I've ever seen with roof stripes is the 30th. The 35th had a different stripe style (they faded out into a checkered flag pattern on the hood, and then faded back in on the decklid) and at that point all SS's had T-tops (if they werent a convertible).

30th avviversary cars with t tops do have about a foot of stripes on the "roof" behind the t tops. There were acctually SS hard top cars with no t tops, they had stripes the entire length of the roof, most of them had LT4's I think.

That's true now that i think about it, wonder what happened there. Guess somebody wasn't thinking. That's one of my favorite paint schemes on a camaro.

Yeah thats what I said . You could get a Hardtop LT1/LT4 SS (there were only a handful of LT4 cars) and they had the roof stripes, or if it was t-top you got 6 inches of stripe. However the LS1 35th Anniversary car in 2002, SS's were t-top or vert only at the time and had no roof stripe.

I priced the stripes like the concept (Bumblebee) and they will run about 300-350 after market. I found cheaper but the vinyl is not as good. so becarful if you go after market......you may get what you pay for.

Can we ask where you found those stripes?

Depends on your area but in mine it will run about $500 for rally stripes and includes pinstriping around them.
