why did you take out. Im interested but afraid something else might be worn on it. Why did the rubber break, assuming the bolts were stripped on install or de install

I got tired of it, didnt like the vibrations and feel of the Hurst, i went back to stock.

the rubber broke because of heat and i guess it was the first run of shifters, my first rubber piece broke and hurst sent me a replacement for free and it is in perfect shape. the first run of rubber pieces must have been too flimsy.

the nuts were striped a little because of the deinstall, the speedshop put locktight on the nuts and when they took them off they striped them some. I can go to the hardware store and get new bolts for you if you buy.

This has been EXACTLY the same way almost all Hurst manual shifters have been constructed since the early 60's. And hasn't been a problem for close to 50 years. Many Hurst shifters run an upper stick that is several feet in length and with all that leverage still no problems. Any first gen Camaro owners having problems with the stick connecting bolts on their Hurst shifter?...

... didn't think so.
