I got a call last night to lock and load. My buddy keeps all but a pistol for him and his wife in his Montana homa gun-vault. Last night's "festivities" caused a large group of people to gather in the area/neighborhood where he lived. His wife's new Camaro SS and his Corvette were parked under the carport in the apartment parking lot. Leaving them exposed to rioting vandals was not an option as most insurance companies do not cover riot/insurrection damage.

I grabbed the 8" barreled shotgun (and tax stamp), along with the AR from the safe. Threw some extra mags and ammo in a duffle bag and headed his way in my old Dodge truck.

When I got there, he was the object of comments about his Caucasian race from a group of about 20 people. The apartment entrance was blocked by people so I jumped the curb with the truck and parked it next to his vehicles. The weapons were removed from the duffle bag on sling hung them off our shoulders. He had the AR and I had the shotgun (the tax stamp covers ME) and we said noting to incite anyone, but we KNEW the cops would be there sooner or later. Before the cops arrived, 2 of his military buddies arrived - also carrying rifles on slings. The cops arrived and immediately checked my shotgun paperwork (NFA weapons tend to do that to police). Satisfied we were not doing anything illegal, the police warned the boisterous crowd that we were all legally armed and were all military trained shooters - they then said it would be best if they avoided confrontation and moved down the block were there was another crowd gathered.

They didn't leave and instead taunted us for a few hours - before dispersing around 0400. I'm having dinner at his home tonight and am "on call" in case his wife needs help. My buddy was allowed to go home early after he filed a report of his family/property in possible danger. Oh well, it may be another long night.

Good for you Snidely.
I love Texas.
Try the above in the Peoples Republic of Marylandistan and they will happily escort you to a padded cell.

OK, but I need somebody to explain the correct way for these people to live so that you'll approve of their situation.

Explained in the first line of the first post: "I got a call from a military buddy who currently lives in an apartment with his family. It's not the best area in town to live, but it was a short-notice transfer."

When the military tells you (and/ or your family) to pick up and move ("short-notice transfer"), the first step to settling in a new area is to rent whatever is is immediately available. There's not always a lot of time to research which areas are good vs. bad, and buying a house before one knows the area is not a good idea.

This can put a decent family, with decent cars, in a lousy neighborhood, at least temporarily.

Just my speculation.

Outstanding!!! Nothing here in Greensboro, NC but I pitty the folks that would try that on street between myself and six of my neighbors one who is a county sheriff and myself be a Marine grunt we have a huge arasnal that is always ready, most of us have concealed carry permits and the training to back it up. I don't understand how these folks with the use of violence think they can change the perception people have of them. They need to start with changing themselves before they cano ask for change in a peaceful way. Semper Fi here's to use and those like us.

FO a-hole. I was in the military, understand you have to move, but definately did not have enough money for a camaro ss and corvette. I did not hear of anything more severe than a few protests outside of Ferguson anyway. Sounded like a make up story.
