New 2015 ZL1 or 2015 C7

I currently have a 14 SS but seriously looking at upgrading to a new 15 ZL1. When I started to run numbers on ordering my preferences, the cost is close to a new 2015 C7 Corvette. The car will be my daily driver (I work from home) so it will not be a use once in a while car. Now having owned a Vette in the past (it was a Sunday driver) I'm well aware that it may not be the best option for a DD car.....but I still would consider as I do not have to do a daily work commute.

Anyone else considering this choice? Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Unless you really have to have the vette, then consider this: You will be able to get a new c7 for a few years from now (at least 5 more years), but 2015 will be the last year that one can buy a new 5th gen ZL.

It will come to your personal preference in making a choice.

Between the two cars I would go with the Stingray, but I'm not sure how much daily driving you do since you said you don't have to do a daily commute. lbls1 brought up a good point too though, the 2015 will be the last year of 5th Gen Camaros so if your into that sort of thing that may be enough to sway you. If fuel economy and overall performance are important, you can't beat a new Stingray with the Z51 package. 29 MPG highway! 12 seconds in the quarter mile and sub 4 second 0-60 times and great handling too? I think the new dash cam/data acquisition will be available on the 2015 Stingray too. So.....IDK what your preference/budget is but that would be my choice. Don't get me wrong....I LOVE my 2013 1LE, but between a ZL1 and a Stingray, I say Stingray.

I would never, ever, ever consider a Corvette as a daily driver. No back seats is a major deal breaker. The Camaro is as comfortable as a luxury car, has large, usable back seats that actually fit grown adults let alone children and has a very usable trunk. With appropriate tires, it is excellent in all weather conditions. A Corvette is a secondary car at best. Hell, it's a THIRD car at best. I think if you plan on using a Corvette as a daily driver, you're going to find yourself calling out of work often due to weather and constantly needing to borrow vehicles from friends and family to do "life" things.

A Camaro in any trim is a very practical daily driver and a super well-rounded vehicle. A Corvette is a fantastic performer in terms of all things speed, but it sucks at life.

Since the backseats are practically uselss for an adult to sit in, get the Vette. They are sweet.

I'd go with the ZL1. I'm 6'1, 230lbs. The Vette as a daily, nah. I have a 9 yr old son too. If I was single tho w/no kids, eh, I might do the Vette. But, I'd wait till the new Z06 comes out. I'm glad I bought a ZL1. Anyhow, not that it matters to anyone. haha. Just my po.

Have you sat in one or. drove one yet? I hear and see a lot of C7 owners trading in their stingray for a C6 because of how tight and small it is compared to the C6! Plus first and second year models seem to have problems with stuff. I would do the ZL1 in a heartbeat over the C7 because the more I see them the more I am turned off by them . And like everything about the ZL1! But it's up to you!

For a daily driver, I would rather have a Camaro. The stingrays are bad ass, but what a pain a vette is for daily driving in my opinion. They are so low and hard to get in and out of easily. Maybe I am just getting old, lol, but I'd rather DD a camaro (especially if it were a ZL1!)

Personal preference man!
It's obvious the ZL1 makes the better daily driver though, for room in the interior alone.

I fit two grown men - one 6' and 170 lbs, the other 6'1 and 200 lbs - in the backseat. I fit three average sized women in the backseat. Average sized men fit just fine. These are not fourth gens.

A ZL1 is sweet as well. A ZL1 can be made to be just as fast as a Corvette and have a stouter driveline. A ZL1 is better in all weather conditions, has a superior trunk, perfectly usable backseats and is a decent daily driver. A Corvette is good for tracking, that's it.
