Onstar question.

Yes, I know that onstar has a representative on here, but I am also curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

In the pictures below, the first one is what the frameless looks like going down the road, and the bottom is the picture as you are starting the car.

the issue is this: Sometimes, about every three weeks or so, the little stop sign above the emergency button will light up inside of the mirror. (not the button) Is this something I should worry about??

I noticed this just the other day. I removed the Bluetooth ODB transmitter I had and it went away. It did not stay on long... at first I thought I was seeing things.

I believe it is an alert that Big Brother has detected a problem.

I believe it is part of the POST sequence of the computers starting up. Power On Self Test. Mine does it at startup and goes out when put into gear.

I've seen this couple of times; I believe it happens because the system temporality loses a signal. Also it's none of the lights you took a picture of; it's actually a diffident symbol just slightly to the left of the red, top one.

I would not worry about it unless it stays on.

thank you, nyrfan. what ever it is, it's red, and it's on the right, so it catches my attention rather quickly. The dealership states that it is onstar sending/receiving a signal from them. So, who knows?

I thought you were talking about this...

I had the stop sign come on for a few seconds and then go out, this kept repeating...

Last week a red light with an exclamation point came up on mine. The light is between the blue Onstar and red SOS in the second picture. It went away then came back about an hour later and then went out. I contacted Onstar and they said everything seemed okay but that I needed to contact my dealer.
I took the car in and they had to replace my mirror.

thank you all for your responses. I will look further into this, and I will make sure and focus on what the light is if/when it happens again. For the record, Onstar told me to call gm customer service.

No reason to contact GM C/S. Just contact your dealer if you feel there is an issue.

NYRfan..

I also took it to the dealer, and that was where they told me that it was onstar receiving/transmitting info for updating.

Hey NYrfan!!!

It came on for about two seconds today on me again. and, like all had said it was slightly to the left. Not that I doubted, but I knew what to look for this time as it doesn't show up when you start the car. I pushed the Onstar button this time, and was told to push the onstar button the next time it happens.
It's kind of difficult to do that when it only lights up for one or two seconds.

A reply from Onstar

Thank you for your patience in waiting for a response to your inquiry regarding your OnStar frameless mirror.
The red OnStar logo with the exclamation point is a warning light that tells you something is wrong with the system.
If the light does not stay on long enough for you to have an OnDemand Diagnostic pull up any information, take the vehicle to your dealership. If they have any questions they can call us here at OnStar for assistance.
Please reply to this email with additional questions, call us at 1.888.4ONSTAR (1.888.466.7827), or press your blue OnStar button to speak with an advisor.
Sincerely,
Dora

Mine came on the other day again! Called OnStar and was placed on hold for about ten minutes. I have some audio I recorded these guys have no clue. They disconnected the call and have yet to follow up with me. -1 on their customer service so far.
