Which Mod First? Cold Air Intake and Tune or Suspension Upgrade?

They're about the same price and I'm fairly sure I'll get both, it's just a matter of which first. What do you think? A simple A or B is fine, a discussion on why is better.

Cold Air Intake + tune

or

Suspension Upgrade (Street I)

I say suspension. I posed a similiar question last week, power or handling. I'm going for complete handling first but the Jannetty packages look oh so good.

Eventually, both! One or the other will do wonders for performance but once you do one the other is a must! I did the cai and full high flow exhaust but no tune yet. My next mod will be suspension! Can't go wrong either way you go! Good luck and have fun modding!

Yeah, like I said, pretty sure both are in my future, just wondering what all the cool kids here would do first.

A decent suspension package will have a much greater impact on the fun factor of your car.

I voted suspension.

You also want it LOOKING better. Lower suspension will make an amazing and HUGE difference in person. Plus the performance benefit.

If I had to start over from scratch, I'd order my car, and have the springs and sways waiting in the garage. It would have the new parts before it left the house the first time.

Then get your extra ponies later.

Would an intake mess with the warranty?

Depends on your daily drive... in my case I would go with intake & tune because most of my driving is on fairly straight highway or bypass... if it was twisty back roads, the suspension would come first.

I'll likely skip lowering my car thanks to my driveway being a hill...

Give this a read. The intake, no. The tune, yes.

What about the warranty transmission wise? My tranny is awfully noisy and I worry that it may have some issues. My main concern is if I put the intake on and I later have tranny problems that need warranty work the dealer will turn around and say "you gave the engine more power which messed up the tranny, not our problem"

If you believe something is wrong with your transmission I would take it in now and get it documented if not repaired. An air intake would not justify the denial of a warranty repair on your transmission. A tune, on the other hand, would.

I always say suspension .. but right now coilover kits are kindof expensive! So are a lot of the other suspension parts I'm seeing. I guess I'm just used to old tuner cars .. and Lowering springs just don't cut it for me ..

Intakes on the other hand, isn't priced so terrible and are showing pretty big gains! So .. that's very tempting as well.

However, the warranty has already saved us a few bucks over here, so I think we're gonna wait a little while longer before we start bolting on power.

I voted for CAI. The car already handles very nice. Besides i will eventually put on 22"s on her and lowering to me sounds like a waste of money. Its not like i will go race on a hill that requires that or what not. But the CAI does feel and sound aMazing. I luv it. waiting for bonus from work to do my exhaust.
