I was detailing my car and it took about 2/3 hours inside-out
...
I had the radio playing the whole time. When I was done I noticed my DIC said "battery/power saver" something along the lines of that. Car had a very very slight hesitation when I started it, but I never knew about that feature before

You make a valid point. In that case, however, if folks don't have time to read the darned thread in its entirety, then they shouldn't post as it adds to "redundancy".

I'm assuming you mean if you've already remote started your car and it is running? If so, you only have to hold the remote start button and the car will shut off.

Also, I'm sure this has already been said, but if you remote start your car and wait too long and it shuts off or you remotely shut it off twice, you will not be able to remote start it a third time.

that's right, i was talking with the car being remotely started, also wanted to post that because i saw a post saying that in order to shut it down, you basically had to get it the car and shut it down normally

V6 oil usage

My 2010 Camaro RS does not burn oil or leak but a tapping started and the dealer said it was rattling heat shields even though the computer and me kept saying it wasn't. I had it in to the dealers 5 or 6 times and they kept resetting the check engine light saying it was a misfire...finally I checked the dipstick and nothing registered...took it to where I bought it , told them the story, they put the diagnostic machine on it and I have a bent rod and burnt bearings...NEED A NEW ENGINE BUT HAVE A WARRANTY UNTIL OCT. The moral of the story , DO NOT TRUST THE DEALER AND CHECK THE CAR YOURSELF....just because I'm a woman, THEY DID NOT LISTEN .

While this is not a replacement for proper battery maintenance during extended winter storage, it certainly will help from killing the battery life for short <1 month rests and I doubt most dealers will even know of this or print this TSB out for us:

Some customers may comment that there is a "Transport Mode On" message displayed in the DIC and/or the red battery light is flashing. The transport mode is intended for use on vehicles being shipped outside of the United States and Canada.

For the 2014 model year, some products will be shipped from the assembly plant with the Transportation Mode On. The feature reduces the electrical load on the battery when the vehicle is parked, which extends the battery stand time.

To alert the operator that the mode is on, the red battery telltale will be flashing and if equipped with a DIC, it will display a Transport Mode On message. When the Transport mode is on, the Remote Keyless Entry (key fobs) is disabled, as well content theft deterrent and exit lighting timers are reduced.

When the vehicle is running, the only difference in operation will be the DIC Message and Battery Telltale on. The Remote Keyless Entry function is restored with the ignition in run.

The intent of the feature is to prolong battery stand time. The mode may be left on while the vehicle is in dealer inventory.

Also a customer may want to use the mode if the vehicle is going to be stored.

The method to turn the mode off is the same to turn the mode on. Refer to the section below for the method to turn the mode off and on.

2011-2014 Vehicle Procedure
Not sure if this has been posted yet but, Did you know that you can put your car in transport mode for storage?

To turn the Transport Mode On/Off, it will be necessary to start the engine, activate the hazard flashers, press the brake pedal (automatic transmission) or clutch pedal (manual transmission) then press and hold the Start/Stop button or turn the ignition key to the crank position for 15 seconds. The same steps are used to turn on the feature.

In 2014 SS camaros with AFM - how can I tell if I am in V4 or V8? I've seen other vehicle DICs (non camaro I think ) with indicators, 2014's don't seem to have it.

It shuts down to four, not six, cylinders.

Yea that's what I meant. But is there any indicator on the DIC that I am missing? I see no indication anywhere when it happens. Was just curious.

I haven't done any exhaust changes for that reason yet. I can tell when it changes, I just didn't know if it actually gives us any visual indication like some of the trucks do.

Alright, I've read all 50 pages over the course of 3 days and here's all I have come up with:

Even on slight inclines (in forward or reverse), you don't have to give the car any gas as you let out the clutch - the engine will sense the load and raise the idle enough to prevent stalling and move the car.

When cruise control is engaged, lifting the parking brake will disengage cruise - over the years, I've found this to be hit and miss depending on vehicle make.

I suspect there's a lot of MyLink features that still need to be discovered!
