Took me a minute to respond but if it's coupled with the intake, headers and exhaust mine seems to be louder with the tbs then without. That's my take. Still need the intake, headers and exhaust.......

I have a Vararam intake. after adding 25mm "1 in." mace insulator it the tone was definitely deepened

It sounds cool idling, and high revs, but just driving or pulling away from a stop; at regular speed, it sounds like you need an exhaust.
