because there has been testing and the base model z51 corvette has already proven that it can take the gt500. it was in a car and driver magazine when the gt500 came out. vette took it in every aspect of racing.

Historically speaking over time the Shelby will ultimately hold it's value better. But that being said comparing the SS (top performing Camaro as of now) to the GT500 (top performing Mustang that's 100% Ford built) is dollar for dollar not a fair comparison. But until GM comes out with a Z28 or some higher hp factory option, technically speaking it is still a valid comparison. Top Mustang vs top Camaro. If you put the Camaro SS vs the Mustang GT that's a different story. The Camaro if it lives up to it's promises will be a vastly superior car and an outstanding value. But out on the streets and strips of the world is where we'll ultimately find out the truth. I for one love the new muscle car wars. It's a very exciting time for us car nuts!!!

You have to compare the GT500 to a fully loaded 2SS/RS to get the same equivalent which does bring the price closer. msrp $46,325 GT500 msrp $35,100 Camaro 2SS/RS with polished rims The GT500 comes standard with all those extra's... That's closer to an $11,000 difference between the two give and take. I know IRS is in with the SS and not in the GT500 however since it is not an option to include or exclude, I can't put a price on that hence the give and take. And yes, price gouging on the GT500 runs rampant..

might as well be fair on all sides instead of a one sided argument.
Camaro V6 > Mustang V6 Camaro SS > Mustang GT GT500 > ???... Oh yeah, Camaro doesnt have a higher option V8 yet nice try though. That would be like comparing a supercharged SS to a stock GT. LAME!

Right now the mustang owns the camaro. Fight it as much as you want to but thats the facts. Years ago it was diffrent. Who really cares though, they are both nice cars. Hopefully the new camaro will hurry up and hit the streets so we can quit this childish bs and have something else to talk about.
