This is another idea and I know someone else on the forum has done it already, you just have to get the length right to make it work though. And in the stock v6 mufflers, the A6 anyway, Gm has a little J pipe in there.

With all I have read, and all I have done,if you keep the mod to just a axelback the drone can be minimal and the resonated x pipe will really help. It did with my custom magnaflow setup early on.Killed all the drone as they were very boomy and alot of freeway drone. But as you add intakes and headers, especially teamed up with a louder muffler setup, the drone is worse and the res x pipe helps, but not as much as with a more quiet muffler, as a magnaflow, corsa or gm borla setup. I have whats in my sig and stock resonators and have more freeway and in town drone then I did with the magnaflows and no stock resonators. I think insulation could work here and will give it a try.

Here is what mine sounds like after installing the Magnaflow resonated xpipe. The drone and rasp is gone now.

I had the same rasp and drone issues with this set-up and I solved it by installing a Magnaflow Resonated "X" Pipe in place of the factory "H" pipe. I also added the Injen long tube cai and now it sounds great.

You could try adding some sound deadening in the truck area first. I've heard that helps.

Does anyone have a part # for just the mufflers, and know if you can buy them separate?

The thing is I have the tips that come with the AMT kit and was going to weld them to my stock exhaust cause I like how they look, but now I'm kinda regretting not just going with the AMT kit.

The Super 44 is an aggressive muffler and will increase the interior and exterior volume of your vehicle's exhaust note. Several factors, including the muffler that you decide to run, can lead to high levels of unwanted internal resonance, or drone. Give us a call at 707-544-4761 so that our techs can attempt to troubleshoot your issue.
