2011 Mustang VS 2010/11 Camaros - keep it civil!!!!

Ok, shall we try this again? Please remember to keep your arguments civil - no trash talking is needed. Also, please stay on topic. Positive attitudes only

I am excited to see the new Mustangs hit the streets. Competition is good That being said, I'm hopeful the Camaro will still be able to keep up (stock for stock) on the track.

Actually one of the mods (CamaroSpike23) stated he wanted to see another one, and hopefully this one will be successful. We can't just say 'ok, guess we cant talk about Camaros and Mustangs anymore'. We have to be able to have a rational and respectable conversation on the topic.

Now, back to the subject at hand: What I am most interested in seeing on the 2011 stangs is how the V6 will do performance wise. I've heard 315 hp or so, but I am wondering if the gas mileage will match the Camaro V6's 29?

Should be a little less than 3500lbs...

Borrowing from the Mustang GT, the Performance Package includes numerous suspension, braking and body stiffening upgrades to deliver unparalleled handling performance. That road-holding is helped by a near-equal front/rear weight distribution, providing exceptional transient response along with the car’s slimmed-down curb weight of less than 3,500 pounds.

Instead of directly answering, I'm going to qualify the question. You see that you are on Camaro5. Clearly, more people here will argue for the Camaro with the occasional post that a Mustang or Challenger is superior. It doesn't matter what you say. Do you see? Asking this question has a predetermined outcome. The same people will always support one side. Other people will always support the other side. Camaro enthusiasts will just find more arguments to suggest that their product is superior, only to be countered by speculation that something about an alternative is superior.

Yes—it will start with intelligent discussion about weight, torque, horsepower, aerodynamics, and traction; however, it will end in closure and bans. The question makes sense. The Camaro and the Mustang are direct competitors, and that direct competition makes this question impossible to answer. People are too loyal to the sheet metal of one brand or another to see whether their shiny metal shape is actually superior. If it is, you'll proudly wear your logo on your chest, but if it isn't you'll say that it can be made faster with ease, replacing that logo with whoever made your exhaust, supercharger, intake, sound system, or whatever else makes you win races.

This is a Camaro forum. Most of our members will support the Camaro. Some of us will do it because it is built on the best available technology; because it is faster; because some will argue it looks better; because reason backs the decision. Others will argue that the Camaro is simply cooler or that they've only driven Chevrolets. Whatever your reason, you're home.

Seriously, can we go a day without a new mustang thread? We all know how they end.

I think it will be easier to keep it civil after gt's with the five liter are out and mags can get some times.
Until then it's all just speculation
