Well it looks like I finally figured out that evap leak.

Just got a letter from Chevy saying some 2012's have a problem with the solenoid valve for the evap vent. Supposedly they are going to fix this issue for free AND reimburse me for the money I spent to have the vent valve wrongfully replaced (two days after having that done I had a CEL again... Evap emission). I have had this issue hounding me for a year. I bought a code reader last winter just so I could clear it out for auto start to work (until the code came right back in). This is a good day.

Vent much more common than purge. You'd be surprised how many techs don't even know the diff

They sure do know they can charge you more for dropping your gas tank to access the purge valve though. Nothing pissed me off more than when that cel came back in two days after the shop swapped it out.

I just received that same letter tonight.

Lucky me, I haven't had any problems yet.

Purge valve is generally by the intake. Vent valve is by the fuel tank. Usually doesn't (almost never) involve dropping the tank. Not sure on the camaro though

My bad, I got that switched up. But, yes I got to pay to have my gas tank dropped to replace the vent solenoid. Oh well looks like I'll have a little extra mod-money coming my way.

I also got the letter.

Car is hibernating, but haven't thrown any codes for any of this. Hopefully I won't have to mess with it.

I changed mine by myself and I didn't have to drop the gas tank.

Why only 2012? Mine is a 2010 and I've been through this already. Seems like a lot of 2010's and 2011's have this problem as well

The vent valve is ontop of your gas tank. The purge valve is located right above cylinder #4.

Not sure. It sucks to hear somebody's having trouble and wasn't included in this solution. I'm gonna have to ask my dealer what the problem was that kept making it come in.

The bulletin is number 12154C if anyone wants to go read it, most likely online but looks like it only applies to 2012 3.6L Camaros and CTS models. Hopefully this means I won't have to deal with dropping my tank later, the vent valve sticks right into the canister which is why the tank has to be lowered (I don't think actually dropped completely)

I got the Same letter. Do you know what issues this would cause for the car?
