Exhaust or new wheels?
I know this is one of those "well its your damn car" questions, but I figure why not get some opinions!
As much as I hate to even think about it when its 80 degrees out, I've been saving for a set of winter tires. I have the cash and found a deal on some. Now that the necessity purchase is out of the way, next up is something fun. I've got my eye on either the MRT V2 axle back or a set of Konig Airstrike wheels. Not sure which I should gun for. My old G6 had a custom exhaust that sounded fantastic, and it makes me crazy driving a near silent CAMARO now! I was ok with the stock steelies for a while, but they just have to go. Especially since I want to put the winter tires on those. I'd rather get new wheels and leave the steels strictly for winter. But MAN, I love a good exhaust...

I'm new to all this modding stuff and my Camaro as well (working on it though), and for me the wheels and tires would be my last mod. I would prefer to get an exhaust first. Just my 0.02!

That comes down to looks or performance. Which is more important to you?

Pay off the car first. Then mod.

After adding both wheels and exhaust to my car, I'd go with exhaust first. MRT V2 has been one of my favorite mods so far. (I'm actually thinking of putting the Heritage wheels back on my car...)

I'd go with the exhaust. I want to change out my wheels eventually, but I opted for an exhaust upgrade.

So far exhaust is winning by far, then 401k (go figure).
I was leaning towards wheels, but you may be convincing me otherwise. I could save a few bones and get my exhaust, and probably be able to save the loot for the wheels next spring when I'd want to take the snow tires off. Decisions decisions. This is why I made the poll, thanks so far...

I'd say you have to think long term. If you go with the exhaust first, will you be able to save up enough by the time fall/winter comes around? I know you have the all season tires, but I'm sure you know that NW PA can have some pretty bad winters.

I have an LS also, I did the exhaust first. Then I did the wheels. Go exhaust, you will like it better.

The winter tires are a lock already. I definitely will need them since this is my daily. I DO work from home and the wife has an SUV so its not a huge deal either way, but I need the winters.
I'm looking ahead to my NEXT purchase, which is either the exhaust or the Konigs.

I did wheels on my LS first. I really hated those steelies though.
My Magnaflow cat-back is probably my favorite mod however, but I'd still do the wheels first. Advice on wheels: Either try and find a nice OEM set of 20's, or go all out and get a nice 3k set. I bought a $1500 set of cast wheels. If I had it to do over again, I'd do one or the other of my suggestions instead of doing it half way. |
