Can't believe it, but true! Around 11am, I walk out to start my 2012 1LT, and my wife also gets out of house, and starts her old and beloved 2004 Toyota Sequoia SR5. Started my car, and pulled down window to say bye, and she pulls up next to me and says, "This is what a v8 sounds like!", and proceeded to rev that SR5, taunting me while laughing. She then challenges me on a little "race" down a back road close by, and with neighbors looking and laughing, of course I accept, LOL.

So we get there, set, and go: although I started quicker, that DARN stock sequia keep up with me after almost 1/4 mile

This is a loss in my book.

How the hell does a v8 240hp 4.7 L Sequioa keep up with my 1LT?!?!? less HP and weighing almost 1000lbs more, LOL.

Afterwards, I took the Sequoia for a drive, and hit the gas, and man, it snapped by head back, and you feel the v8 power difference, although it's supposedly only 240hp. Also, the v8 seemed effortless getting up in speed and rpm. My v6 feels like it's carrying lots of weight and making an effort---it can do it---but seems like it's tougher.

So now, I'm jealous, and wondering if by switching to a 1SS, I'll get that "snap head back" feel

Gotta admit, after that embarrasing episode, I headed down to local dealership, to see if I could trade up for a 1SS, LOL. Sadly, my car was appraised at 24K, and the 2012 1SS there was 33K, and a 2010 2SS was 29K. Dealer wanted extra 2K down and payments would be extra $150 per month according to their numbers:(

I love my V6. I can merge onto the interstate at well over getting-a-ticket territory without the car breathing too hard. The motor doesn't have a ton of low end torque and I readily notice the difference between just me and the car and have two passengers plus stuff in the trunk.

However, I have NO desire to trade my car in and owe even more money, spend more on insurance, and more on gasoline.

Yep, I hear you. Got my 1LT 6 weeks ago, and DID NOT want a v8 then. higher insurance, higher gas costs, and an LFX w/ 323hp is enough.

However, after driving the v8 SUV, and feeling how "effortless" it gets up to speed, and how it snaps your head back when tapping throttle---man, it felt really good

. I've read some of the v8 vs v6 threads, and read how v8 owners love that power feel, and I guess it's similar to what I felt with Sequoia.

Sequoia 4.7L has 315ft lbs torq, Camaro v6 has around 278??

Hmm. I never really felt like my V6 is 'working' for it I guess. Keep in mind it's a smaller motor and they rev harder and higher than a larger V8. So while it may sound like it's putting a lot of effort in, it's really just doing its normal gig.

Torque is that feeling that puts you in the seat. And 273tq is not going to do that when you get it at 5000+ RPM.

The Sequoia makes more torque at lower RPM and probably has superior gearing to use it.

But to me the advantage is...that Sequoia isn't half as cool and won't get 28+ on the highway at 75 with the AC blasting. And isn't in the same ball park for fun.

Edit: What's humiliating is when your buddy gets a car length pulled on him to the almost triple digits because his '94 LT1 Corvette has Opti-Garbage that can't get its act together. HAH....

True, the Sequia's 315 torque and gearing probably help it pull harder---it's just the feeling that its v8 pull that 4500lb monster quite easily. Doesn't feel like its struggling at all.

My v6 on the other hand, although it's got nice 323hp, and its pretty quick for the size and weight, it's as if it needs to be lighter, or have more torque or hp to pull with the same ease and effortless feel.

Love my V6, but man, need to start making some upgrades to get it snap my head back some

But the car still needs a few more mods.

Perhaps a ported TB, exhaust upgrade, and one of those magical Trifeca tunes I keep reading about.

Anyone else compare back-to-back driving a v8 vs a v6? Notice the snap and seemingly effortless pull of the v8 vs v6? OMG, I've been struck by the v8 virus, LOL

I was already looking into supercharging, LOL. After seeing the prices, hellz no.

sticking to TB, perhaps Solo Mach upgrade, and a Trifecta tune to make it come alive some---guess that's what it needs. Feels kind of sluggish compared to v8, and perhaps its due to gearing as well.

Put it in 'M', run it up to 4000RPM or better and pinch 'er to the floor. It'll jerk you head. Well, a little anyway, LOL.

I'd buy some stuff for my car but I'm too cheap. I wouldn't mind a CAI and a Magnaflow but that's a lot of dimes.
