Head gasket thickness ??

What is the most common thickness for head gaskets when you are boosting your engine?? .040,.045 or .051?? Looking for reliability .. I know the thickness will increase or decrease the compression just was wondering what is the most common and reliable .

Use LS9 gaskets. PN: 12622033
They are .051 thick. Same thickness as LS3 gaskets but have 7 layers vs. the LS3's 5 layers.

This is assuming you are less than 4.100 bore as that is the bore on the LS9 gaskets.

Here is what Kurt Urban (www.kurturbanperformance.com) had to say about them:
The additional layers help with the longevity as the gasket must "slide" when the two parts heat/expand at different rates. The energizer ring is not on the surface in the LS9, that helps the gasket seal better as the energizer ring is sitting on gasket layers on both sides. I would be nervous using the LS9 on 4.8/5.3 aluminum engines as the ring pressure might fall off the edge of the iron sleeve.

I made around 1100whp with them and many others have too.
