Does no Z28 mean no Camaro for you??
In the Cherly Pilcher interview in Automobile Magazine she says there will be no Z28 variant and that the SS is top dog.
She does not rule out a supercharged camaro out right, perhaps only that it would not be a Z28. None the less it would appear that there is not going to be a supercharged Z28 Camaro, does this mean no camaro at all for some of you? I am torn, I wanted the Camaro before the idea of the supercharged engine...then I wanted the supercharged 6.2 ltr engine...but no I dont know if I want a Camaro that a GT500 can spank around. |

Although the Z/28 will be missed IF (and that's a big IF) it's not brought back, I will still be buying a Camaro. I've never owned one for one reason or another, but always wanted one. I now have the means and won't miss out any longer.

I would like the top dog when (and if) it makes it to production. I, too, don't like the idea of worrying about a crappy Mustang whooping me. YES, I know that I could slap a supercharger on it, but I want a WHOLE engineered package, like GM would make (i.e. better brakes, beefier drivetrain and suspension, etc.) I would really like to be able to only have to add a small handful of parts and leave it alone. SO... to answer your question, I'd still end up getting Camaro if it were not a Z28, but I would not be as enthusiastic about it. It just wouldn't have the same lineage unless it were called an SS or Z28 (or even ZL1 or something.) We'll just have to see what happens in the next couple years.

They could call it CRaP I'd still buy it, (Chevrolet Racing Performance =) If you set your sights too high you'll never be happy. Talk to Lingenfelter, they'll build you a Z28.
<edit> I'm also waiting till Shania Twain proposes to marry me, but I married another gal till then

I voted but you need more categories. I don't feel like I'm settling for a SS, it will be an amazing car. If the Super Camaro ever comes that will be great, but I can't afford it and will simply mod the SS to outperform the mustangs. The LS3 is easily bumped to 500+hp, how much more do I realy need?

I honestly never cared if the Z28 was going to have the 500+ hp. I just wanted a Z28 to sit next to my current Z28. but if in a year the convert is coming out and no word yet on a z28 I will end up buying a convert rs/ss.

The people who want Z28'S don't need 500+HP. I want something that says Iam a hard core enthusiast. I would be satisfied with little things like, 450Hp, or better gearing with some wieght reduction. Somethign that sets me apart form every other person that buys a V8. performance wise

Unles they come out with an SS or Z28 with the wider stance in the back than no Camaro for me. Here is hoping they build one that more closely resembles the concept from the doors back.
