Dealer Rumor
I talked Friday with my local Chevy dealer GM, and he said they were told in a meeting last week that they will be receiving the new camaro in Nov. '08.
Is he yanking my chain, or will the production car be ready for release by then? |

They've been saying pretty much since the outset that production will start in October of '08 but that the cars won't be on dealer floors until sometime in the first quarter of '09.
But, things do change so we can cross our fingers and hope.

Personally, I choose to expect it around February of 2009. If it comes early, great! I'd rather not expect it early and then be disappointed when it comes out "late" (which is actually on time). |

It could be a dealer demo to get people interested. So they'll have one model just to show off from Nov-Feb/March-ish, then they'll get a full (relatively speaking) supply.

The first salable unit wont be available until (AT THE EARLIEST) Jan 1, 2009. Look more towards mid Febuary with supply exceeding demand by mid to late 09.

Production starts in the last quarter of 2008. Very limited numbers the first month then production ramps up over the next two months. Don' t count on any until 2009. Again, like production, only a very small number will be available at first, and likely with a healthy dealer mark up.

You wont see it on the showroom floor to buy until the new year.
You may see some demos yes, or a few for sale that may have sneaked out of the plant, but i doubt it, and if some did, you would need a lephrechaun poking his head out of your butt holding a horseshoe in one hand and a four leaf clover in the other, to find the cars. |

Thanks for the info, I will look to next Feb, then I won't be bummed out if the don't get any in Nov. I am "supposedly" #1 on the list here in our neck of the woods, so I'll start searching for that Leprechan now.

Those will be promo, crash test ratings, and GM vehicles (heritage center, press test vehicles, ect.). And the number was 30 and they will not be for sale.

yeah those are pilot cars. They go to the bigwigs for last minute testing. and they will be fully loaded to the tits with various engine configurations. All pilot vehicles we lend out to VP's and such are all fully loaded. then when they are done with them they go into the staff garage usually with less then 10,000k on them. Then we can buy them at a steeply discounted price. Also we can take out new production cars home for the weekend on the "nightrider" program and fill out problem sheets etc when we get back in on monday. You better believe i have my name in for one for a weekend
