You should go to the 'happy vert owner' thread. True there are some with issues, but more true, there are those with absolutely NO ISSUES.
When given the opportunity to complain, that will always prevail. I'm not taking anything away from those with issues. But for all those with no problems they don't log on here everyday and say "the car is fine...thanks" Hope that makes sense. |

Seems like the 2011 cars had issues but GM has fixed the problem. All the 2012 cars are solid and there is a service bulletin for a repair on the 2011s with issues. I could be wrong but from what I've seen thats been the case.

I have a 2011 with no problem. The difference is that people who complain will do it vocally, and make others know they are unhappy.
Happy people keep to themselves and don't try to convince other people they are happy or that something is "right".

Love my 'vert!
I have a 2011 'vert with none of the problems mentioned in most of these threads. My top looks new, doesn't leak, and has no wind noise. My radio did have to be replaced a couple of weeks after I took her home, but my dealer was awesome in working with me and finding out what the problem was. I wasn't looking to buy a 'vert, but they made me a deal I couldn't pass up and I have loved every minute of ownership! Makes getting the 80 miles rt to and from work completely worth it!

Its human nature to complain more than to praise. I love my Vert...

I have a very early build 2011 (mid Jan) and had a few minor rub marks that the TSB took care of so not all of the 2011's were bad. I love the car and would buy it again without hesitation.

I have a early build vert and I too thought there was alot of complaining as I was initially having no problems with the top. However, soon the holes started showing up and then the 5th bow broke while 1000 miles away from home on vacation. I have 11K miles on my convertible. I think most of the problems were on the 2011 and early 2012 models.
The MAIN problem is that GM initally tried the ol' duc tape method of fix, now they are doing the 2 part epoxy fix (per se') with the newest "fixes". If they would have originally (and still yet) just had the entire top AND mechanism fixed and replaced on the problem cars, this would NOT have become such an issue. The jury is still out on the most recent fix, and there have been failures already. I have not been able to put my top down (and haven't driven it) since June 26th. As of today, it is still in the shop for the top repair (6 weeks). Would you be happy at this point??? |

My first 2012 made on 7/26/11 was repurchased by GM. Top was reolaced after 5 weeks. Was in the shop for 23 of the first 88 days on the road. Out of service or waiting on parts for 110 days. No problems? BS! Not bad for a 40 thousand dollar car.

I guess I've been lucky. No problems with my 2012. I love the car and I'm glad I didn't read about all the top problems before i bought it. I spent some time looking into reliability of the engine, transmission, and everything else, but never gave a thought to the top. If I had read about the top problems in advance I would not have bought it.

I have a '12 2LT model and absolutely love it!! Sure, I had an issue with the dash bubbling, but that was taken care of (so far so good).
And I do have the 'V' wear marks on the top also. However, rather than dwell on the negativity, I totally enjoy my car. When it gets bad enough, I'll have it taken care of. But until then I am absolutely loving my Silver Streak. It runs great, I drove it to South Florida and back without one issue and have a constant perma-grin on my face in it.

That is just the attitude GM wants. "I will worry about it when I have to" The problems stem from nobody know's how to replace the tops. Then again, they shouldn't have to be replaced in the first year. 10 years, sure. Not right away. It is a design problem from the get go. And you would like on model year 3 they should get it right. I thought they would by year 2 and I was wrong. Hence, all the BS I went through and finally got a buyback.
