Unhappy IM SAD ... PUT HER AWAY FOR WINTER !

:(

Last weekend, changed the oil, cleaned her out, put her on rubber mats on each wheel , disconnected the battery, put the GM Camaro car cover on her. She is silent and sleeping now and will be waking up again 1st May 2010.

I miss her cos there have been sunny days when I thought DANG I could be driving her right now!!!!!

QUESTION
Anyway, I got a quick question, I locked the doors, but I didnt close the trunk fully cos how do i get back in when the battery is disconnected (I know I can through the rear seats but I had enough difficulty getting to the battery through the trunk!!)

Anyway my question is this... is it bad to leave the trunk ajar, I guess it will air inside a bit better and not get so dampy etc.

What say you.

Hi Matrix!

You should be able to use the key to get back inside? no?

I'm wondering if air flow would make it more damp. It may be better if its closed up and you use Damp Rid or something.

Just make sure to keep the animals out of the trunk.

I am going to use a trickle solar charger that keeps the battery up.
Put jack stands under it and get the weight off the tires.

DO NOT go out every month and start it up. When you do restart it, crank it over a few times with the hood up to spread some Oil ( it will not start) Then lower the hood and let her rip.

The trunk is opened by the remote/door button which requires battery connection.

You can't open the trunk with the key.

1) Fill the gas tank to the top ( put gas stabilizer in for extended periods.)
this prevents moisture/rust in the tank.

2) Take the weight off the wheels ...your tires will thank you next spring.

3) Have fresh oil in it.

4) COLD thick oil takes longer to get to the cylinder walls...Cold starts are the hardest on any engine. Avoid unnecessary ones. This also adds condensation inside the engine and as the car will not get up to full normal operating temp this is not good.

5) On board drain is greater than previous GENS. Provide a battery tender or a regulated solar charger. I will not disconnect my battery.Too many settings will need to be put back in. Canadian Tire had them for 9.95 LY.

Doesnt the key need to be in to engage the cigarette lighter input? I could be wrong???

Just curious- what is the significance of the raised hood?...
