Here's a ridiculously fat-fingered, bad iphone pic attempting to illustrate how they blend in the sun. More so to the naked eye:

The daily drivers in the house (Cobalts) have a 1" moulding near the beltline. Hardly notice it because its body color.

Only problem is, each car still got dinged, as someone magically found a spot to hit that wasn't covered by the moulding.

If you're interested, I got them from Sport Wing in Valley View, OH. Nice product that was shipped on time and packaged professionally. About $125.00

From 20' away they are virtually invisible!

They don't look bad at all. I would get them but they only have Red and Red Jewel. I wonder if they are close enough to Red Hot. Anybody knows? TIA

I'd rather have a dent with paint loss

I agree with you about the door guards. he'rs the thing.. if you have to drive everyday I would think its a no brainer. You can still get the van hook doors that go above and below, but it's better than an open canvas for anyone to knock into it. Get them, and then post pics. I had very cool monochromatic red door guards on my Formula 350 back in the day, and always got compliments on how the car looked. They were very cool, and streamlined. I don't see these much anymore.

Thumbs up on the sport wing product!! I have the same product on my car and I barely even know they are there. This is the best option in my opinion.

I've had my car for over a year now, I've always parked in the very back of the lot no matter how far it is from the door or other people. Haven't had a door ding or scratch yet made from another person. People give me shit for parking so far. But compare my car to theirs haha they'll understand.

When I got my car I had a Clear Bra put on. I also had a horizontal 6 inch piece put on each door starting where you would place your molding. Had the car 6 weeks and there was a 1 inch verticle line of white paint imbedded on the Clear Bra material a couple inches below where your molding would be. Came off pretty easy and left no dent.

Just parking as far away from others is not a definite solution. I have parked far away from any other cars and come back out to find some jerk has parked right next to me. Also, as someone else mentioned, if you are parked for a long period of time you don't know who or what is going to be coming and going next to you.

Thanks to those who directed me to SportWing. I am going to get a set of those for mine.

My car has a few door dings, mostly from a previous owner. I don't know of any i've gotten since I owned it, picking your parking place is the best defense. On the other hand, it's a car and won't appreciate in value anytime soon, so door dings aren't really a huge issue to me. I daily drive it and I expect the paint to gradually get worse because of that. The best I can do is minimize the damage and if it gets bad enough, have it painted.
