Is the v6 camaro looked down upon?
Bought to purchase a new camaro... But everyone says "the v6 camaro is a waste ... Get the v8" but seeing as I can barely afford the v6, should I wait a few more years and get the v8? Personally I'd rather no wait and get it now , plus I like the idea of better mpg! Also, how many of you v6 owners get the "ew only v6, camaros should only be v8" honestly I don't care too much Im just wondering if the v8 would be worth the wait ?

I get that sometimes, but I love my v6. sure the V8 has more power, and if all you want is power, then yes save your money. But I didn't need just horsepower. The v6 has plenty of power for me in my current situation. Plus I got my LS for about 23,500, with the 1SS i was looking at priced around 31,500. The SS is nice, but out of my budget for the forseeable future.

323 hp is some nice power, more then most v8's 5 years ago. You will have a nice car thats afforable and can smoke the average honda. Get the V6 now and trade up when you are in a better financial situation. The v6 almost has as much power as my 2003 BMW m3. Go for it.

Actually many people these days don't care about the v8 out here because of gas prices. Most people ask is it a v6 or v8 and when I tell them it's a v6 with a 3.6L engine and 323hp they say wow that's pretty good for a v6. I love the SS and it's power but nobody cares as mich these days bro. You want the car get it. Get what you can afford and will make you happy!

It goes both ways with people's opinions of the v6. But if that's all u can afford then don't try for the v8. But for me yes it's v8 or go home but that's bc I'm all about power and looks. By on the mpg there are many people on here that have posted there mpg from there v6's and there mpg were actually worse than mine or very close.

By the car you want and forget what everyone else says. If you want it now and can afford it, then get it. You only live once and who knows what the future holds.

After having my V6 for 2 months, I still have not come across a situation where i needed any more power.
Look at it this way: are you worried about someone giving you a hard time just because their car is "bigger" than yours? What matters to YOU? who cares what anyone else thinks. There's nothing "wasteful" about a V6; some people just have to have the "biggest" one so they have what they THINK are "bragging rights". **These statements were not meant to indicate all V8 owners think this way*** If you're not racing it at a drag strip, then there's no difference; both engines will get you from one traffic light to the next in nearly the same time and from point A to point B on the highway in the same amount of time. Get the V6 & get that permagrin on your face now!... |

323 horsepower is more than most Camaros have come out of the factory with in its 45 years history. How much horsepower do you need or can you realistically take advantage of? If bragging rights are why you're buying this, you should probably wait until you can buy the 8. I love my V6 and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I don't look down upon it, but being that my other car is already faster than it stock for stock, I saw no point in buying it. Don't get caught up in all the hype over the HP number, you have consider the TQ nubmers too.

Depends on the person, most people who are jealous of the fact you will be getting a Camaro at all, will make fun of you for your V6... but thats when you say hey, why dont you get a V8 camaro then? oh wait, you drive a corolla.
It never bothers me when people try to talk the V6 down, i love my car and thats all i care about
