Unhappy Help With SLP X Pipe Install

Hey new guy here. I need some help. I purchased a SLP 30223 Xpipe for my L99 SS. I tried installing it last night and half the day today and finally gave up. The problem is if you tighten every thing and follow all the directions to the letter the center section of the exhaust where the tunnel brace is hanging 3-4 inches below and you cant get the brace back in. Well you can but the exhaust will rest on it.I also reversed the xpipe and got the same result if not worse. Anybody got any ideas or experience with this exhaust. Thanks

I have installed the SLP 3 inch poweflow. When you install the xpipe you DO NOT re use the brace. You can not. The pipe are too big and it will not fit. You need to buy this:
http://www.lsrperformance.com/chassi...pan-brace.html
Buy the 3 inch one and that will fit. Right now, I'm running without anything. You will be fine to drive without it.

Thanks for the info. I may just return it and get something that will actually fit right. Another hundred for that brace and another hundred for the 3" pipes.
It still looks like the 3 bullet mufflers would rest on the brace.
After looking at it further Ive noticed that SLP's XPipe location is different than most other mfgs. which most likely is causng the fitment problem.

It does fit right. Mine does. But this is a 3" pipe, all of them need a new brace. Right now I taken all the bullet for some pipe and the brace still does not fit. Thats just how it is.

I think most of the manufacturers have them in 2.5. I have the Magnaflow one. I think it runs around $75 but has to be welded in.

I am running the SLP X Pipe with there bullet mufflers in place. The brace will not fit so justleave it off. I see no need to return a very nice xpipe just because the tunnel brace will not work. With the bullet mufflers there is no way.

Well if I can get a definite answer to what that brace is really accomplishing? I would consider leaving it off. I cant imagine it is there only to hold the heat shield in place engineers design things in for a reason.

How much more space do you need? Others have put small stacks of washers under the braces bolts in order to drop it down a bit.

Like I originally sais it hangs about 2-3 inches past where the brace would mount. After rearranging the pipes, lifting jacking retightening etc. If this is the sytem that SLP puts on there ZL Camaros I'm sure they dont leave there without the brace. After further research leaving it off is not an option as this is an important piece to provide strength laterally on the tunnel . If someone made a brace that had a drop of about 3-4 inches that would probably work with the bullet mufflers.
The flex joints in the convertor contribute alot to the sag.

Looks like there are spacers and washers that were not included in the kit. I bought from Summit the packing slip says they have had it since 2009. The instructions do not say anything about using spacers. But according to the instructions on SLP Website they should of been included and are on their packing list. I will be calling SLP in the Morning to find out what the deal is.

Well, LINKWPC was right you just leave the brace out. I confrimed that with SLP yesterday morning. I am still going to have a custom one made to fit by a machine shop I deal with daily I cant beat free. I have the whole system installed along with the loud mouth II's and I can tell you this really woke the car up no more hesitation and the bottom end really woke up wil have a hard time keeping tires on it LOL.
As far as sound it has a really deep muscle car sound while cruising and a awesome roar when you at WOT. I just have to move the AC drain pipe some more so that it doesnt rattle just needs a little more massaging.

If it really hangs down that low, I don't see how you're going to keep from scraping over speed bumps and such. I can't believe SLP designed a exhaust system that would hang down 2-3in below the OEM mounting point, especially when it's one of the lowest parts of the car.

You're right about it being there for a purpose. Some people run without it but it's definitely there for lateral stability.

Glad to hear you got a direct answer from SLP. Now throw some headers on there and listen to it roar! I have the SLP Headers, X Pipe, and the LM1.
