What happens when the door hits under or above that??? Which would be quite often.

Exactly. You would need to put like 50 of them all up and down the entire side of the car. I guarantee no matter where you put them, the dbag next to you would open their door right where you don't have one.

The car will get dinged and scratched eventually no matter what you do.

Those are the Door Shox, right? (lol, started composing this post before post#2, and actually hit "submit" after post #7)
I sent some feelers out about these, after I had a PDR guy remove a ding from my door, because our cars are ding magnets, with no side moldings, and the door crease that is lined up to be the most probable point of impact to some inconsiderate persons car door. I did buy a set. I leave them in my trunk in case I ever HAVE to park in a situation where door dings are possible (and believe me, I don't mind walking a distance to park safe). 98% of the time (plus or minus for all the nitpickers) I follow the "park far away, away from all the other cars" rule. However, my Camaro is my one and only vehicle, so it goes where I go, and on occasion, there is no place I consider a "safe" parking spot. That's when I throw these on. These are the concerns I had/have: - If the car's not perfectly clean (or even if it is), be careful sticking and unsticking the magnets. Any grit under there could cause blemishing. - People suck....sad, but true....I suspect there are some folks out there that would feel the need to "test" these with their own car doors, or might think that since the bumpers are in place, there's no need to be respectful or careful around your car. - There might be others who think "Hey, those are a great idea. I'm going to steal them." Yanking on the cable, or using some tool to cut the cable, could result in damage your car. - Two of them per side doesn't really cover the entire area that I would consider "impact" zones. You can place them strategically based on the specific parking scenario. Bottom line? I've used them several times when I thought the situation warranted it. Did they stop a ding? No way to really tell for certain, is there? I can say that I don't have any dings on my car, so, I also didn't get dinged in those situations where I had these on. If nothing else, I do feel a little less stressed about parking my Camaro directly next to any other vehicle, in those situations where I have no reasonable alternative. |

this is a target, i could see a punk or joker seeing your car knowing you care that much to protect it.. and go out of their way to hit you on purpose, or key it even... id let a door ding happen over drawing more bad attention to my car.

In Phoenix they would steal those and then ding your door . The solution is parking in the right place and walking a bit .

When I had Clear Bra applied to my car I had like a 5 inch horizontal piece put across the door. The top started just above the curve. It paid for itself the fourth week I had the car when I had around a 1” vertical white ding embedded in the Clear Bra. Took around 5 minutes to get the paint removed but you can only see a little imperfection if you know where to look and look hard.

Seems like these would draw unwanted attention to the car...like rules are meant to be broken...cars with these are meant to be dinged.
