Track to myself!
Went to the local road course today (Arroyo Seco Raceway). There were two cars all day, including mine. The other driver only ran in the morning, so I had the whole track to myself in the afternoon. Of course it is not one of the big name tracks out there, but I still got to turn left and right! 11 turns on a 1.4 mile course.
Now a few questions, Is 276 oil normal to see in 105* temps? I saw a DIC message along the lines of AC off due to high engine temp, um I was not running the AC. Since I just turned the fan off without turning the AC off first was it still turning the compressor and that is why the message? Does anyone know why I would have gotten code P219A? I shut the car off and restarted and it was still there. Used my torque app to clear and has not returned since. Ran twice after that, plus the almost 2 hour drive home. Will try to get any vids I may have up later. Gopro is old and battery died even though I charged it all night last night. |

Videos uploading to YouTube. Will post here when done.
Here is the first video that I got recorded, the spec Miata and myself on track about half a lap apart. 2nd video, after talking with the driver I learned he use to race out there so I followed him to try to learn the line. Part 1 part 2 and by myself I was on the track more, but that is all of the video that I recorded. Still editing the others to fit on youtube. I'm still learning this stuff. Next is to have track info overlay. Last edited by danvillekidd; 07-03-2014 at 11:31 PM. |

That oil temp is fairly normal racing in those temps. When your water temp reaches a certain point the car will prevent the a/c from coming on. I would consider at the very least a radiator upgrade if you want to keep racing in 95+ degree weather.

I'm getting video unavailable on the link.
But that is FREKAIN SWEET that you had the track to yourself. Running 2 or 3 laps around VIR and a few other tracks by myself is on my bucket list.

I'm not sure on the link, as it worked for me from my Govt computer that I cant log into Camaro5 from (have to post from my phone).
Yeah, would be sweet to have a major track to yourself! This was just by change as no one else showed up for the open track day. I'm still trying to split the other 2 vids in half so I can get them on YouTube. I download the GoPro software, but it keeps stalling at 53-54%. I need to find another way I guess. |

I wonder if water wetter by Redline would help. They claim up to 20* temp drop.It would be a cheap experiment.

A 30/70 or 10/90 coolant mix with water wetter would help some but a flexalite makes a giant difference, above and beyond fluid changes.

Guess it depends on your NEC. It won't work on my gubment computer here in GA.
Still, I would love to have that kind of track time. Quote:

It was nice to be able go out and run and stop when I wanted. It was an open track day, just no one showed up. 100+ temps are normal here, so I thought there would still be more cars show up. Redid the links again, and now they are imbeded, not sure how I did that...first time. |
