Here's one from your link about the Demon....More in depth about the street/track/ban..... http://www.dragzine.com/features/car...it-nhra-legal/ I thought this guy's comment about bragging rights, getting banned, street creds, etc. was pretty telling....It's a lot of money and effort for the short lived fame of "I'm banned"....I doubt any serious drag racers will see the benefit of this ban as a bragging, epic climax to spending well over $100K...: "The one thing I find missing from all this is the mention of a roll bar. Just as with the C6 Corvette ZO6, NHRA Rules Section 4A, page 5 say you can't go quicker than 11.50 without a roll bar. The Demon doesn't have a roll bar, either. So your dreams of 9 second, 10 second or even 11.49 seconds are dependent of adding additional safety equipment, and if you eclipse the 9.99 mark you'll need a Snell 2010 or better full face helmet, an SFI 3.2A/5 Jacket and Pants, SFI 3.3/1 gloves and SFI 3.3 neck collar. You will also have to install a drive shaft loop. All that to get to brag about being banned?" Last edited by 90503; 04-20-2017 at 04:37 PM. |

In my opinion a dual purpose anything never really works out. I know I have tried to make a daily driven truck capable off road, it just becomes horrible on the street or too fragile for serious off road. I have bought dual sport motorcycles and honestly they end up sucking ass at both. I have taken street bikes and tried to convert them to a street/strip bike to no avail. The Demon will end up being the same way. If I wanted a drag car I would build a dedicated car that is trailered there, because once you start getting into the 9's your chances of tearing things go up exponentially...

As stated nothing really new in that article and 9.90 in straight street trim is still outrageously fast. As for the ban, there are tracks across the country where you can run that quick and not get kicked out.

Yep, IHRA tracks are typically less strict than NHRA tracks for better or worse.

I wonder what would happen if you could put this car, really any modern muscle/performance car, in a time machine and present it to the engineers in 1970. 800+ HP capable of under 10 sec, street legal from the showroom floor? We've come a long way still using pistons and spark plugs, lol.

Our local track is saying that you can run the car, but if you go below 10, you have to add all of the safety equipment. Now all of the Demon drivers (I'm guessing 2 in west Michigan) can make a hero pass.

There's always the Monterrey strip for the Texan Demon drivers. I would just hire a Tactical Counter Terrorism Squad as an escort hahahaha!
