2014 ZL1 cuts out at WOT
Hi
I’m new to the forum. I just picked up a 2014 ZL1 automatic. When trying to drag race the car it cuts out at wide open throttle in both Perf traction 5 race and with everything off. I would have thought that with the nannies off the tires would spin and the car would upshift but it acts like it’s hitting the rev limiter. Any ideas or suggestions? |

Hey. Welcome.
More specifics? Cuts out to what rpm? How long have you had this Z? Any mods? If you hit the limit the ecu will kill for a second. |

I've had the car about 2 weeks. No mods bone stock. The first time it cut out around 5K rpm. 2nd time around 4500 rpm. It's an automatic why isn't it upshifting it shouldn't hit the rev limiter

No codes? You have a problem if the throttle is closing at 4500 rpm.

Since you bought it used, it's possible the car was modified and was tuned, and was thrown back to stock to sell with the tune still on it. That would definitely cause issues. See if your dealership can reprogram the car to stock calibrations assuming it's 100% stock now.

Is this only happening in tapshift mode (manual mode)?

No I had it in drive. If I use the paddle shift if I shift early it seems o.k

It's the traction control module, have your dealer look at it. After I added the upper pulley, mine would do the same thing when I floored it in drive or sport mode at around 3800-4500 rpm. Turning off the nanny's should have fixed it, so the module may have issues.

Is your speedo gauge fluctuating when this happens? Or any other gauges?

It does act like the traction control is coming on or acting like its hitting the rev limiter. I guess I'll take it to the dealer
