GM Dealer Installed Footwell Cupholder Lighting

(Pics added in later post)

Bought a 2013 ZL1 Friday. (did not order it) One of the options was dealer installed footwell/cupholder lighting. The kit was actually in a box that I found in the trunk after I got home. I took one look at the instructions and decided that the dealer was DEFINITELY going to install it.
I had installed LED footwell lighting in the 2010 2LT that I traded in. I did the usual wiring to the gray wire so it worked with the dome light thing. It wasnt too hard.
So I took the car in at 7:30 this morning. I bought the car about 80 miles from home so I took a day off to stay there while they installed the kit.
I thought about 2 hours would get it. But it was almost 2 pm when they got it finished. They said it was pretty complicated. I know you have to pull the console, auto trans gear shifter, etc to get the cupholder lights in. You have to drill a couple of holes in the cupholder for the LEDs and one for the switch.
I will get some pics after dark to show the various colors that the lights change into.
They did let me borrow a car to go get some lunch in. I wasnt in a big hurry anyway so I am glad to get it done.
Just wanted to give folks a heads up on the time it takes.
And it was fun to watch everyone gather around the ZL1 at the dealership.
I bought it the same day it came in. Very lucky to find the exact color etc that I was looking for. Especially the 2013.
And by the way, I love the touchscreen system and although I may be imagining it, I think it has better sound quality, including bass, than the old models in the 2010-12s.

heck yea mine will be getting installed next week. Its one of those small add-on's that is cool to have. I worked it in the deal because i was not paying $600 just for a few LED's.

It was a little strange...the actual window sticker that came with the vehicle did not list the option. But the online GM Windowsticker had it listed. And I paid the amount that included the option. I said what the heck, it isnt that much considering the price of the car. And my poor old back just couldnt go through another do it yourself install.

It's a shame how much they get away charging for a few LEDs...

When my Kit was installed, it only took Ofer (2SSRS) and I about one hour to do it. Directions were very easy to follow.

Glad you posted pics of the lamps. Now I know I do not care for that kit for me. Rest of the car looks good, though.

Aren't the GM kits plug and play? What could possibly take them so long to install it? Looks good btw.

Don't the gm kits require drilling?

Yup, GM kit requires 2 holes for the LED lenses in the cup holders and 2 self tapping screws for each of the 2 footwell domes. I did mine in about 2 hours. Time consuming parts are just taking the console apart and putting it back together. Running the wires is really easy.

I think my wife paid around $250 for the kit. Not exactly sure as it was a gift. But nowhere near $600. That's one helluva dealer install price.
