shaker rig
I missed this before but the z/28 has been on a shaker rig with the multimatic shocks. If you do not know what this is google it. This is about as serious as you can get regarding handling. Red bull's f1 car has em too.

Nice find!
Does anyone know what these are priced at? Can they be purchased? (Pete) Will Pedders have this technology?

So I read up on both of these things after this thread was posted. Do we know if any US production vehicle and employed these testing technique in development?

Using a road simulator has been done by GM for years and has been used to develop NASCAR suspension settings.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same. Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different. I can't wait for my next Track fix. Yes that is essentially what GM was using.

Man it's good to see GM putting some cutting edge tech into the Camaro line up. It's still hard to believe the Camaro will be getting these before the Corvette.

This testing is common in NASCAR, IndyCar, ALMS, F1, etc. Depending on what they are trying to test they can replay a ‘generic’ profile or specific tracks. The rigs can be 4 or 7 post, the 7 post rigs simulate braking, acceleration, cornering, road irregularity, downforce. The testing can look very violent depending on how bumpy the profile is. Teams commonly heat the dampers to simulate on track conditions more precisely.
DSSV was used by Newman / Haas in Champ Car / IndyCar amongst other IndyCar, ALMS, etc. teams. Andretti used them for a while but are using different dampers now. Data is collected and analyzed and damper settings are adjusted to determine the effects.
