ZR1 clutch in SS

So after very short notice and a week of my car being abused while I was on a business trip I need a new clutch. I found a couple different options like AMS from rock auto and a zr1 clutch with flywheel. Will the zr1 kit bolt in and work or do I need to modify the car?

Need a different flywheel, zr1 slave and a spacer for the slave cylinder. The LS9 crank has 9 bolt holes and the LS3 only has 6.

Here is the LS9/ZR1 kit:

The largest part of the price is the flywheel:

Katech sells a kit too:

Katech flywheel:

I had the LS9 clutch in my car for a while. It held 825whp. However, it still suffered from the dreaded fallen pedal if I beat on the car. I even had the Ideal Garage modified master cylinder and a separate clutch fluid reservoir. In normal driving, it was just like stock.

If you abuse your car, I would look into a mantic, a street slayer, the new monster lt1, or a mcleod RXT. The only upside to using the LS9 conversion is when it comes time again to replace the clutch, you can run down to any GM dealer and buy a new pressure plate and discs.

Have you had the separate reservoir before the LS9 clutch? I think the separate clutch fluid reservoir is the reason of this failure. The much larger OEM reservoir allows the brake system to get contaminated, too, but since it has much more fluid, it is much less prone to clutch failures.

The C5/C6 Corvettes keep having that pedal issue all the time unless the fluid is very frequently replaced. It does not happen as often on Camaros which I think is due to having much more fluid to contaminate before getting too dirty to work.

Please please take a little time to look at the results of the numerous clutches out there.I think you will find if you want to do it right the first time and have a great clutch that is designed for the 5th gen you will choose a Street Slayer. If I can help you out with anything call anytime. ..Make sure you look at information about the 5th gen camaro, after all that's what you have right? If it matters to you the 8 second 5th gen that runs over 160mph runs our tripple, guess that may be the fastest 6 speed gm record

Researching on multiple forums will net you some eye opening results.

That said, our new LT1 series of clutches are hard to beat, the S drives literally like stock and the R just took the overall six speed GM record at 8.63 @ 158 mph... that speaks volumes.

Give us a shout, all Camaro5 members get special pricing!
