Revell model kit 2014+ (with "ugly" tail lights")

I was scouring the interweb last night in search of a model kit or die-cast of the refreshed (and much improved) Camaro, but could only find some cheap crap on eBay. So I decided to e-mail Revell and see if they had any plans to release a plastic model kit for the 2014-2015 Camaro, and this is the response I got:

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for writing to us. Unfortunately we do not have any plans to make these changes at this time. With the all new Camaro being announced we are looking at this as the next Camaro model for us. However, things can change. For now this is the best answer I can give you.

Regards,
Ed Sexton
Revell, Inc.

Although I'm glad they got back to me so quickly, I'm a little annoyed that they don't plan on making an updated version. Looking at their site, they have the updated version of the mustang (within the same generation), and even have a ZL1 kit (which will come in handy when we get them to make a refreshed version and need to poach the wheels from that kit).

So, if you care, and would like to see a the final iteration of the 5th gen Camaro in model form, email this guy and (nicely) request they make it! With all the troubles in the world today, I feel like this is a cause worth fighting for! Haha

Here's his e-mail:

Ugly tail lights WTF

The only other generation camaro to have four tail lights was the 1970-73. The '14-'15 is retro-mod version of the infamous 1969 camaro, the most popular camaro ever.

I think the 2010-2013 are trying to look more corvette then camaro

I like the new tail lights but I hate how the rear diffuser comes way up into the fascia and halfway through the license plate.. what the hell is that all about?

I don't think they're ugly, but a lot of the guys with a pre-2014 will argue with that. Personally, the refresh is what brought me back to Camaro, the aggressive update to the front facia, and the clean lines of the new tail lights won me over.

So...everyone can just settle down. That wasn't the point of this post, but herrrrrrre we go.

I was parked and some old lady tried to go around me. Didn't realzie she was to close. She hit the diffuser. The scratch is so small u can't even see it. But if it was on bumper with paint that wudve been a diff story. Do that's one benefit to this, if u get hit a little it won't be as bad

I have heard people compare them to a prelude and a hand full of other less than flattering comparisons (that actually DO resemble them) - but like Chris1SS1LE said, it's homage to the '69.

To the original post....

To update the tailights (and front fascia) it would mean modifying the molds, destroying the ability to make any more '10-'13 models.

Might be some industrious folks out there who can modify the kit to '14-'15 specs.

I'm sure a large company like Revell has room for 2 5th Gen Camaro molds...
