Post NA L99 build (Help!!!)

So last time I posted on here I said I had a ls3 engine, however I came to the realization that I actually had the l99 engine due to is being a automatic. Now I know how dumb that sounds because the ls3 was for the manual, at the time I purchased the car it had the ls3 badging plus I was a HEAVY mopar guy and was not sooo knowledgeable about Chevy motors BUT I am learning. I say all of that to say/ask what are some reliable(daily driver) NA l99 Setups? Please drop some mod list!! Please remember I do want to stay NA but I will go forced induction down the line but not right now

I currently only have a Cai & and a mid muffler delete. I plan on getting LongTube headers from MadHatter garage, a SS1 VVT GPI cam , a ported throttle body and a tune. Am I on the right path?

I want to be able to beat scats but continue to keep the car’s reliability. I’m not building a race car.

As always I appreciate the feedback and no negativity I’m learning along the way🤝

L99 and LS3 are pretty much the same so it’s no real big deal to call it a ls3. Some people get upset but who gives a fuk.

I have full bolt ons in my sig and beat scat packs - long tubes and tune go a long way in these cars. Also the rod mod intake by gpi is great and cheap if you send them back your old manifold.

What mods were done to your car before you purchased it? The previous owner could have done a "LS3 conversion" to the L99. Which makes it similar to a LS3.

On the L99, if you don't have an aftermarket higher stall converter, you are doing it wrong!

With that cam, I'd run either a 3200 or 3600, it's up to you.

Take a look at my signature. You could do everything except the supercharger and probably get over 500whp. Then you can go FI down the road. Keeping VVT is up to you but I am thankful I kept it. I've been gapping supras, hellcats, M8, M6, corvettes, etc.....

Same here. I went NA first and the car was a blast. Forced induction opens up a new world that you didnt know existed. These cars are easy to make stupid fast. Just takes a bit of coin. I went the other way and bailed the VVT. Honestly, I;m the keep is simple stupid type of guy, so less moving parts are a good thing IMO. Less stuff to cause issues. Keeping VVT or deleting is fine. Not reall ya bad decision either way

500 whp is difficult to reach in an l99. Im pretty much maxed out on my mods. I dont have an intake or rodmod but i doubt those would make up 45 whp.

I'm likely in the same boat. I have an LS3 in mine now, but I am still rocking that 6L80e. I may have a couple extra ponies freed up due to the flattop pistons, very slightly milled heads (I calculated I should be at 11:1), and the ability to rev a bit higher due to the hollow intake valves. But it is still bolted to that power sucking auto trans.

Oh well, what we lose in rwhp we gain in shift speed, right? If I keep repeating that over and over I might even believe it someday!

Not sure what planet you live on, I read somewhere online that the rod mod is worth over a 100HP to the wheels

Yea us auto guys are at a bit of a disadvantage power wise; the 6l80 is a power sucker for sure. That said the auto still has some pretty decent positives, I wouldn’t mind an M6 SS along side my A6 SS one day.

Still rocking the solid L99 valves for right now to 7600 rpm

But you and Aqua have to admit, the 1st gear in the auto is nice. When you pair it with 3.91s, a sticky tire and some weight reduction, well, things get spicy haha

When mine hits second I usually jump ahead a good car length of most people. 2nd gear is a monster with boost. First is almost like a gear to help it start rolling. It really only stays in first for about one second.
