Question Race fuel

So I will be going to the track on thursday to go against my friends 89 vet. I already have a 93 oct. tune from trifecta and I was wondering if I will notice any difference if I putt some CAM2 in the tank.

Unless you tune for it I wouldn't expect much. Might pull a little less timing, but I don't think you will see much of a benefit at the track.

This but if you do, only getting a half tank or a little less would help. (instead of a full tank)

As Gretchin pointed out, unless you tune for it, the only benifit will be less pulled timing, which is a good thing. If you have 3 gallons of 93 and add 3 gallons of 100 do the math and you are running about 96 - 97. This would be plenty to provide the best you can do to avoid pulling the timing.

Oh and ENJOY the smell it is SWEET.

I run CAM2 100 octane (R+M/2) as my everyday fuel. (more specificaly this: Sunoco 260 GT - strangely has a higher octane than E85) Make sure it is LEAD free.
I have been told that a tune would not provide any benefit - the ECM will adjust for maximum gain on its own.

but, SHHHH dont let the secret out - this is how I achieved the consistent 13.7x with 1.9x 60' im pretty sure with slicks and standard weight reduction I could hit 13.59

Unless your friend has a good amount of work done to the Vette I'd say you have it in the bag already.

Sure wish we had Sunoco in our area...they made fuel that you could feel the difference. I never tried race fuel since I had heard it is leaded? Don't know that for a fact, but always scared it might be. I will have to ask that question next time I'm at the track. Back in "the day" avgas was the best you could run in our circle track cars.

Is there a specific 93 oct tune available from trifecta? I only ever got the standard 'off the shelf' 13HP tune from him but have pretty much always been running with 93 - am I missing out on anything ?

No your tune will work just fine for 93 octane. The "other" tune is for E85 folks. As others pointed out the ECM will do the final corrections for difference between 87 and 93 octane.
