JusticePete suggested disconnecting the front sway bar to help weight transfer to the rear end squat. Don't know if that will gain me a tenth on the sixty, but if I'm cutting 1.65x in 3000 DA, I think a 1.5x is possible. Which is pretty cool considering it's a bolt-on car. Padre |

Maybe a 1.57
I think once you start disconnecting the front swaybar you are starting to slide over into racecar mode. Seriously though, 12.4 in 3000 DA would make me pretty happy.

Back in the ol' 4th gen days, when we still raced bolt-ons there would be a sizable pile of seats, spare tires, floor mates and miscellaneous interior trim at the track while the 5-6 of us were busy trying to crack an 11.99....

Does this make me the quickest car with the lowest dyno numbers?
2011 2SS/RS Camaro L99/A6 Bolt-On. Dynolab in Marietta GA. First day on the dyno ends with: 376/391. 98* ambient. Bolt-Ons are: Fastlane Pipeline CAI. JBA Shorties and high-flow cats, Borla Touring cat-back, 3.45 gears, 3200 FTI Torque Converter. John Lee from Atlanta Performance and Fabrication (member/sponsor) did the tuning and smoothed me out to about 12.5 AFR. We tweaked the timing as well, but basically my track tune was leaner and about 5hp less than we were able to get on the dyno. So, onward and upwards! Padre |

Here's the dyno sheet.
The torque numbers are what they are because of the torque converter and gears. With John@APF's tweaking of the tune and smoothing out the AFR, you can see who he cleaned up the area under the curve. All in all, I'm very happy. It gives me a lot more confidence next time I hit the track. Padre

Yours and Doc's journals are by far my favorite! I love that you have a fast ass fifth gen with minimal mods. I am hoping to do the exact same except I will have a few hundred extra lbs on me. I should have the last of my mods tomorrow (Forgestar F14's and Vmax TB).

Any updates Padre? Too hot to run or too busy writing sermons?
I was wondering, when you ran with just a few parts, how long of a cool-down were you doing? If you ran the car with a short cool-down, call it 15 minutes, would the car slow down a bit, a few tenths? I've found the LS2 in my TBSS to be very temp sensitive. Hot off the highway it ran a 14.7 and with a cooldown and better launch I went a 14.2 the same day.

Usually, when I arrive at the track straight off the highway (with time only for a bathroom break), I will have my best run of the day or not improve on it much (unless I make significant changes). I can run back-to-back with 10-15 minutes between runs and stay easily within a tenth. Long waits do not show me significant improvements. I added a 160* thermostat, and while it occasionally shows 180* on the highway, I have not seen improvement in the lanes and I have seen some inconsistent fluctuations in temps (e.g. jumping from 190* to 215* back to 198* in a short time). But most of my runs are 194* ECT. I have ordered an ADM Race Scoop, and if it arrives this week, I'll be testing it out Sunday. I also have another "secret" mod I want to try out this weekend. "Secret" because I'm embarrassed to admit I'm actually trying it. But I can, so I will, and it should add fuel to a common debate. Padre |
