I'm also looking at maybe using the M&H 275/45/18 instead of the MT 305/40/18. The overall diameter is a little smaller (27.75" overall vs 29" stock). Would the M&H at 275 wide be too narrow for the C5 Z06 18x10.5 wheel?

I like the idea of the smaller diameter to give it the effect of having some lower gears but on the flip side I like the taller sidewall to give it more rubber to absorb some drivetrain shock (I'm worried about breaking something).

I might stick with the C6 18x9.5 with the M&H 275 though. No matter which of those combos I would go with it's going to cost about $1,000 for everything. So then it comes down to which is going to be the best combination for a car running about 450 rwhp.

Any thoughts.....
I think the 275/45 will fit great on the 18x10.5. The 275/45 is recommended on a 10" wheel so a 10.5 will fit fine. Tire manufacturers would rather the tire be a little stretched than bulged.

Our M6 cars need a lot more gear, too bad they are crazy expensive and the ones that won't break at the track only go up to 3.95. Shorter tires are a great way to cheat more gear. I would go with a shorter tire than what you picked, but I'm sure you already know that, LOL.

285/45-18 = 28.1" tall, 9.5-10.0 wheel
295/45-18 = 28.5" tall, 10.0-10.5 wheel
See quote below.

Only light cars, cars making a lot of power or autos need a lot of sidewall. His car is neither of those.

Yeah....I goofed around and didn't buy your tires you had for sale. I kind of knew I was going to regret not jumping on them but I didn't really have the money saved up for them at the time.

And Yes....the gears for these cars are crazy expensive. I thought it was bad when I had to pay $110 for a new set of gears and then $225 to have them installed on my 1st Gen. Then again I remember paying $380 for a set of ceramic coated Hooker Super Comp headers as well. I thought that was highway robbery. Now look at what we are having to pay.

I'm still thinking that after I get my DRs that my next mod will be gears though. It's just that I'll have to wait a while to get them.

I decided it was time to put a rim/tire combination on the car that may be a bit more drag friendly. I decided to go with the 18" TSW Nurburgring with Nitto NT05Rs out back and 555ZRs up front. Now I just need a clutch and I am ready to go.
