Talking My 1LE has a new roommate

Picked this up for my birthday last week. The dealer that sold me the 1LE 2 years ago was trying to talk me into a Z51 Stingray... But I love my 1LE.

So, I decided to replace my 6 year old GSXR. I have noticed that many of you on this forum either have bikes or used to have a bike. So, I thought you all would appreciate this.

Hell, it even matches my car!..

Nice! What mods do you have for your 1le? Are you going to do anything to the Ducati?

Yup. I used to have a similar combo, but just sold the bike to help fund the TT going in next month.

Bad-ass combo you have right there! Well done and happy belated Bday!

Very nice, this is my stealth black 848EVO. I like the looks of the new 1199/899, but when I had a loaner 899 for the day I didn't care for it when riding. It felt to narrow for me and the mirrors seemed too high. Are you going to get the termignomi exhaust on it?

That thing looks very fast! I used to ride for like 33 years, but with the added distractions these days with cell phones, etc...I just had to quit.

Bike talk on C5? Love it! Haha

Test ride em both! You'll probably know right away which one you want. If you decide 'Cati, don't be afraid of a REAL low miles one... Ducati owners keep their bikes in tip top shape. You'll save some coin for sure.

Honestly, the only mods on my 1LE are that I debadged it, then put on custom painted front and rear bowties in red and black. I also put in a K&N filter in the stock airbox. I put braided steel brake lines at all 4 corners and I swap out the pads for better ones on track days. Other than the JL 12" sub and 1000 watt amp in the trunk and the epco 8 ball shift knob, she is mostly stock.

The Pani? I plan on the Termi slip on, slightly higher clipons, carbon front fender in flat black (to match the hood on my 1LE), a zero gravity ST windsheild, mirror extenders (so I can see past my shoulders) a high flow air filter, different spring on the rear shock tailored to my weight, new fork springs and heavier fork oil. That is pretty much it.

Only the slip on Termi. Not the full system. I hear you on the 899. I test rode one and the 1199 two weeks ago. The 899's rake is so steep that everytime I hit the front brakes, I thought I would fall forward over the handlebars. Loved the motor on the 899, but hated the riding position.

Believe it or not, the 1199 is way more comfortable than the 899, but way more powerful. The difference in price between the 899 and my 1199 base with ABS was only $4k. It was well worth it. The mirrors on the 1199 are pretty clear, but all I can see are my shoulders. I have mirror extenders on order.

I hear you. I am 48 and have had my street license for 32 years now. Been riding for 36 years, but the first 4 were all motorcross.

You do have to be way more alert on a bike than in a car. But I just love riding too much to give it up. I won't stop until I am physically unable to ride or lift a bike.
