Say Pete.... were you the one that mentioned somewhere that our Oil Temp gauge readings aren't actual numbers, but a "derived number". If it was indeed you, what is it derived from? I added a huge oil cooler and I'm not seeing a big temp difference - yet I take a laser temp reading of the cooler side tanks and it's definitely cooling.

Also posted a few other pics to share..... had the Torq dual pass heat exchanger with dual fans installed, plus oil cooler, rear tranny cooler and LPE signiture series grill

Next on the wish list, is having a custom ice tank built for below the rear deck in the battery compartment area. I need all the trunk space I can get for traveling.
Yep I am the guilty one. Oil temp is calculated using data points known only to GM. Using your pyrometer you can measure the temp going into the cooler and coming out of the cooler. You have done that and know it is working.

Did you remove the OEM cooler?

PS: Pedders RED parts drop your oil and water temps by 25%

Maybe Graham or Jason can drop in with more detailed information on how the oil temp is calculated.

Yep, OEM cooler gone - I think with the headers it was nothing but a full time heater. LPE diff has the RED treatment, so must be running really cool

Pete gave me some Black bushings to try for the LPE diff. They are black.

I had to use a hammer to set them into place - no give to them. They are very stiff.

Hi Garth, more info on the oil cooler please. What did you use on the block to attach the lines to it?

My oil temp was pretty high at the track after running a few setups. Temp was mid 80's during the day. I am going to start focusing on larger coolers for oil, trans and rear end (same as you).

Corner balancing the car showed 4234 lbs. (7/8 full tank of fuel, the stock tires and wheels installed, and +280 lbs of weight in drivers seat).

Subtractions
93 lbs for fuel
120 (difference in tire/wheel weight)
280 (weight used to mimic driver weight)\
-----
493

4234 car weight with 7/8 fuel, driver in car, stock wheels
- 493
-------
3751 = car weight (empty gas tank - race ready condition)

I traded it to a guy on a deal I couldn't pass up (I now own a bar, a gas station and a bait shop in addition to my other 2 businesses)! The guy I traded it to was selling it on ebay. I still have the ZL1 that I will be doing some things to. You guys could all come down to my bar around camaro fest.
