The real reason FORD will never see a dime of my money!

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/1999/...ain47539.shtml

There were internal memo's disclosed that show ford knew this exsisted and said " its cheaper to deal with the lawsuits , than deal with a recall "

I believe the Pinto had this same problem. We all know that the Pinto was killed off. Thanks for this heads up! I will consider it whenever considered FORD again.

my biggest issue is not that they lied about knowing it, but that they still claim the dam thing is safe! 100's dead proof on video and still no recall! Wonder about all those mustang's at auction this last week. Bet ya a beer they were never warned either.

Do you hold other companies to a standard that they should stand behind a product they produced 40+ years ago? What is your opinion on the VTi problems of the Saturn Vue and Ion?

Before we go all "Ford Sucks!" with this, let me tell you what's TRULY dangerous: the 04-06 GTOs. I know...I had one. The gas tank is basically right behind you, moved into the trunk. Yeah, gallons upon gallons of 93 octane just waiting to blow...

The GTO was discontinued in 2007 because GM couldn't get it to pass modern safety tests....so before going off on Ford for old-school mistakes, maybe you should share some hatred for GM for mistakes made less than 10 years ago?

That's really not the same thing. People aren't catching fire and being maimed for life or killed over a defective transmission.

I will take a Ford over Toyota any day. I would love to have that old Mustang, especially a 69 mach 1.

Do me a huge favor and stop putting words in my mouth. I never said ford sux, I said these actions are the reason I won't do business with them. They had a problem that could cause death and chose to deal with the lawsuits rather than fix the problem. Huge lack of moral fiber, and a cowardousness I refuse to subsidise with profits.

Toyota Tundra Fuel tanks just drop off the truck when going down the road when the known bracket rusts out.

So what do you want Ford to do about it? Besides issuing a warning, there is nothing else that would be reasonable.

Also, OP, is this the real reason you wouldn't buy a Ford, or did you have a ridiculous attitude towards Ford products prior to finding this are now using it to make your opinion seem not so silly?
